2. SHEET A1.6; TOILET ROOM ELEVATION C: LOCATE THE HORIZONTAL GRAB BAR FROM THE BACK WALL PER THE ICC/ANSI FIGURE 604.5.1.
3. SHEETS A4.0, A4.1, A4.2, AND A4.3: ADD A NOTE THAT NOT ALL KEY NOTES ARE USED ON ALL FOUR SHEETS.
4. SHEET A5.2; DETAIL 15: PROVIDE THE SIZE OF THE DIAGONAL MEMBER, SPACING, AND CONNECTIONS REQUIRED AT THE SOFFIT FRAMING AND AT THE STRUCTURE ABOVE.
5. GENERAL: PROVIDE WRITTEN RESPONSES TO ALL REVIEW COMMENTS.
02/20/2014 ROBERT SHERRY MECHANICAL-COMMERCIAL REVIEW Denied 1. Provide structural calculations to verify that the existing roof is capable of supporting the additional dead load due to the installation of the roof top units. Reference: Section 302.1, IMC 2012.
2. Condensate drains (e.g. RTU-2) shall be terminated at an approved disposal location. Reference: Section 307.2.1, IMC 2012, as amended by the City of Tucson.
3. Provide information on the sequence of operation for the restroom exhaust fan to show that all of the air supplied to the restrooms will be exhausted. Reference: Section 403.2.1 (4), IMC 2012.
4. The occupant load used to calculate the required ventilation is not necessarily the same as the furniture layout provided by the Architect. The occupant load used for calculating the minimum required ventilation is to be based on Table 403.3, IMC 2012 or an approved engineering analysis of the specific occupancy type. Reference: Section 403.3, IMC 2012.
5. Verify that the specified conveyor oven (Turbochef High h Conveyor 2020) has been listed and labeled in accordance with UL 710B. Reference: Section507.1 (2), IMC 2012.
6. Provide heating and cooling load calculations that justify the capacities of the heating and cooling equipment specified for the project. Reference: Sections C403.2.1 and C403.2.2, IECC 2012.
7. Show that the proposed HVAC system meets the control requirements of Section C403.2.4 (e.g. show that each rooftop unit has a thermostatic control that provides for off-hour and set-back control, automatic shutdown and start-up control and, if the control does not require manual changeover from the heating and cooling modes, restricts set point overlap). Reference: Section C303.1, International Energy Conservation Code 2012.
8. Clarify how excess outside air relief from the building is to be accomplished. Reference: Section C403.3.1.1.4, IECC 2012.
02/25/2014 ROBERT SHERRY WATER REVIEW Approved
02/25/2014 ROBERT SHERRY PLUMBING-COMMERCIAL REVIEW Denied 1. The specified temperature mixing valve (Leonard 220) is an obsolete product that is not certified as conforming to ASSE 1070 and it is not lead-free. Provide tempered water for the lavatories and public hand-washing sinks in restrooms using approved devices conforming to ASSE 1070. Reference: Sections 416.5 and 607.1.2, IPC 2012, and the Reduction of Lead in Drinking Water Act.
2. Provide a detail of the water heater installation, including the excess pressure relief, expansion tank, vacuum relief or other anti-siphon device, safety pan, and valves. Reference: Sections 503, 504, 606.1, 607.2, and 607.3, IPC 2012.
3. Provide calculations showing how the water supply piping has been sized. Reference: Sections 604.1 and 604.3, IPC 2012.
4. Revise the pipe sizes called out for the flush valves; the specified sizes will result in water velocities greater than that recommended by the pipe manufacturer (e.g. limit the water velocity to less than 8 FPS for copper piping). At a minimum design flow rate of 25 GPM for a siphonic, flush-valve water closet, a 1" Type L copper pipe has a flow velocity of 9.7 FPS. Reference: Table 604.3, IPC 2012.
5. Appliances (e.g. soda dispensers, ice makers, tea brewers, etc) to be directly connected to the water supply system that do not have listed, integral backflow preventers or integral air gaps conforming to Section 608.13.1, IPC require backflow prevention. Specify the type of backflow prevention device required for each water connection. Reference: Sections 608.1 and 608.3, IPC 2012.
6. Provide separate indirect waste pipes for each compartment of the 3-compartment sink to protect against cross-contamination or fouling. Reference: Sections 801.2 and 802.1.8, IPC 2012.
7. Verify that all of the vents (except for vents serving interceptors located outdoors) rise vertically to at least 6" above the flood rims of the fixtures they protect prior to running horizontally. Reference: Section 905.4, IPC 2012 (see also the definition, "horizontal pipe", Section 202, IPC 2012).
8. Provide sizing calculations for the gravity grease interceptor. Reference: Section 1003.3, IPC 2012, as amended by the City of Tucson.
9. Verify that the Pima County Regional Wastewater Reclamation Department will allow the drain from the janitor's sink to bypass the grease interceptor. Reference: Section 1003.3, IPC 2012, as amended by the City of Tucson.
10. Show how the flow control device can be installed below the floor level in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions and still have access. Reference: Sections 202 and 1003.4.2, IPC 2012.
11. Clarify the gas piping design. Unidentified appliance P808 is shown with a load of 380 CFH but the water heater, P800, with a load of 199 CFH is not shown. In addition, if Table 402.4 (1), IFGC 2012 has been used to size the pipe, the branch serving 380 CFH is undersized. Reference: Section 402.3, IFGC 2012.
02/26/2014 KEN VAN KARSEN ELECTRICAL-COMMERCIAL REVIEW Reqs Change T14CM00647
