The submitted COMcheck reports are based on the 2009 IECC. Reference: Sections C101.3, C101.5, and C103.2, International Energy Conservation Code 2012.
2. Revise the energy code compliance calculations for the additions to the building envelope to coordinate with the submitted drawings. The components shown on the Envelope Compliance Certificate shall agree with those shown on the drawings (e.g. include all of the doors and windows; use the same insulation values; etc.). Provide sufficient detail on the drawings to evaluate the energy compliance of the additions to the building envelope. The information shall, as a minimum, include R-values of the insulation for the envelope systems along with the U-values and the SHGC for the fenestration components, Reference: Sections C101.4.3, C101.5, and C103.2, International Energy Conservation Code 2012.
3. Complete the Envelope Compliance Certificate by checking the appropriate line items in Section 3, the Air Leakage, Component Certification, and Vapor Retarder Requirements. Supporting documentation shall be either on the drawings or in a project manual. Sign the completed Envelope Compliance Certificate.
4. Provide heating and cooling load calculations that justify the capacities of the heating and cooling equipment specified for the project. Reference: Sections C403.2.1 and C403.2.2, IECC 2012.
5. Coordinate the Mechanical Compliance Certificate with the information shown on the drawings (e.g. the drawing shows two split system heat pumps, not one packaged rooftop heat pump). Complete the Mechanical Compliance Certificate by checking the appropriate line items in Section 4, the Requirements Checklist. Sign the completed Envelope Compliance Certificate.
6. Show that the features of the proposed HVAC control system meet the control requirements of Sections C403.2.4 and C403.3 by providing for off-hour and set-back control, automatic shutdown and start-up control, and, if the control does not require manual changeover from the heating and cooling modes, restricts set point overlap.
7. Based on the SEER for the proposed heat pumps, both units will require an economizer. Provide an economizer for the two units along with means for relieving the excess air during economizer operation or increase the efficiency of the units per Table C403.3.1(2), IECC 2012. Reference: Section C403.3.1, IECC 2012. See also footnote a, Table C403.3.1 (1), IECC 2012.
8. Show the size, routing, and termination of the condensate drains. Reference: Section 307.2.1, IMC 2012 as amended by the City of Tucson.
9. Provide calculations demonstrating adequate ventilation using the current code. The City of Tucson did not adopt ASHRAE 62.1-2010 and the 2012 IMC only references Appendix A of ASHRAE 62.1-2010 as an alternate method of calculating the system ventilation efficiency (Ev). Reference: Section 403.2, IMC 2012.
10. Both HP-1 and HP-2 (also referred to as AC-1, FC-1, AC-2, and FC-2) serve multiple zones. Calculate the system outdoor intake flow rate (Vot) using Sections 403.3.2.3.1 through 403.3.2.3.4, IMC 2012.
