11/26/2013 ROBERT SHERRY WATER REVIEW Approved
11/26/2013 ROBERT SHERRY MECHANICAL-COMMERCIAL REVIEW Denied 1. Complete the Mechanical Compliance Certificate by signing the compliance statement (Section 5).
2. Clarify the size of the fryer hood. The mechanical floor plan and the details on sheet M2 call out a 5'-7" long hood with an exhaust flow of 800 CFM but the kitchen shop drawing, K3, schedules a hood that is 6'-4" long with an exhaust flow of 1467 CFM. The backgrounds on the plumbing drawings agree with the kitchen shop drawings.
3. Verify that the new Type I fryer hood is equipped to automatically start the hood exhaust fan when cooking operations commence. Reference: Section 507.2.1.1, IMC 2012.
4. Verify that the existing Type I canopy hood is equipped to automatically start its associated new exhaust fan when cooking operations commence. Reference: Section 507.2.1.1, IMC 2012.
5. Provide the hanging weight of the new Type I fryer hood along with structural calculations and details to show that the hood is supported from the building structure in accordance with Section 507.6, IMC 2012 (the hood hanging weight plus the weight of personnel working in or on the hood). Reference: Section 302.1, IMC 2012.
6. Clarify the interconnection requirements of exhaust fan EF-1; the exhaust fan schedule shows it interconnected to both MUA-1 and to the AC units.
7. Show that the installation of the new fryer hood complies with Section 507.9, IMC 2012 with regard to a smooth, cleanable, non-absorbent, and non-combustible material installed between the hood and the wall, and extending 18" beyond the hood.
8. The mechanical floor plan shows two supply diffusers, immediately adjacent to the existing canopy hood, blowing high speed air jets (>100 fpm) parallel to two faces of the hood. Verify with the hood manufacturer that the location of these diffusers will not adversely effect the operation of the hood. Reference: Section 508.1, IMC 2012.
