11/14/2013 ROBERT SHERRY WATER REVIEW Denied Show that the size of the proposed water meter complies with the size requirements of Tucson Water for the calculated water demand. Note: use the fixture units for the total water use for each fixture (e.g. use 3.0 water fixture units for a service sink instead of 2.25 water fixture units which is only for cold water or hot water for the sink).
11/14/2013 ROBERT SHERRY PLUMBING-COMMERCIAL REVIEW Denied 1. Provide a site drawing showing the size and route of the building water supply along with the location and size of both the water meter and the reduced pressure backflow preventer assembly. Reference: Section 107.2.1, IBC 2012.
2. Provide a site drawing showing the size, route, and slope of the building sewer and the location of its connection to the public sewer. Reference: Section 107.2.1, IBC 2012.
3. Provide water supply isometrics and waste and vent isometrics. Reference: Section 107.2.1, IBC 2012.
4. The term "private" for plumbing fixtures applies to fixtures that are located in a residence or apartment, non-public toilet rooms in hotels or motels, and are intended for the use of a family or an individual. None of the plumbing fixtures shown on the plumbing plan appear to fit the definition of private; revise the water demand calculation on sheet P 901. Reference: Section 202, IPC 2012.
5. Show how the temperature of the hot water supply to the public lavatories is controlled. Reference: Sections 416.5 and 607.1, IPC 2012 and Section C404.3, IECC 2012.
6. Provide a shower control valve that complies with the requirements of Section 424.3, IPC 2012.
7. Clarify the purpose for the installation of a well tank and pump rated for 30 GPM considering the demand for the building water supply is approximately 60 GPM. Reference: Section 602.1, IPC 2012.
8. Clarify the installation of ST-1 as shown in detail 6/P801 with the piping plan on sheet P401. Reference: Section 107.2.1, IBC 2012.
9. Provide calculations showing how the water supply piping has been sized. Reference: Sections 604.1 and 604.3, IPC 2012.
10. Verify that the pipe sizes called out for the flush valves will not result in water velocities greater than that recommended by the pipe manufacturer (e.g. limit the water velocity to less than 8 FPS for copper or CPVC piping). At a minimum design flow rate of 25 GPM for a siphonic, flush-valve water closet, a 1" Type L copper pipe has a flow velocity of 9.7 FPS. Reference: Table 604.3, IPC 2012.
11. Provide a full-open valve for the water service at the building entrance. Reference: Section 606.1(2), IPC 2012.
12. Show how accommodation for the thermal expansion of the hot water system is being provided. Reference: section 607.3, IPC 2012.
13. Appliances (e.g. ice makers, etc) to be directly connected to the water supply system that do not have listed, integral backflow preventers or integral air gaps conforming to Section 608.13.1, IPC require backflow prevention. Specify the type of backflow prevention device required for each water connection. Reference: Sections 608.1 and 608.3, IPC 2012.
11/14/2013 ROBERT SHERRY MECHANICAL-COMMERCIAL REVIEW Denied 1. The building shell being modified in this activity does not appear to have been conditioned. Section C101.4.5, IECC 2012 requires the space to be brought into full compliance with the current energy code. Provide energy code compliance calculations for the building envelope; use the climate zone for Tucson. Provide sufficient detail on the drawings to evaluate the energy compliance of the building envelope. The information shall, as a minimum, include U-factors of the envelope systems and fenestration components, along with the R-values of the insulation and the SHGC for the fenestration. Reference: Sections C103.2 and C401.2, International Energy Conservation Code 2012.
2. Revise the HVAC load calculations, using the exterior design conditions specified by Section C302.1, IECC 2012, as amended by the City of Tucson.
