11/13/2013 | RONALD BROWN | BUILDING-COMMERCIAL | REVIEW | Denied | 1. Detail 1/A3 shows 3-3/8" diameter rods supporting the front of an exhaust hood and referencing structural for the support rod connection to the structure above. Which exhaust hood is not apparent as there is no section reference on the floor plan. Is this detail typical for both exhaust hoods? Please provide detail section reference on floor plan referencing support detail for both hoods. 2. Structural details provided appear to be generic as they are referenced as typical mechanical unit supports. The rod size is 1/2" for a maximum load of 750 pounds as opposed to 3/8" rods referenced at detail 1/A3. The large exhaust hood is spected as weighing 975 pounds so will this detail be sufficient for the larger hood? 3. At detail 131/S1.4, 3/8" rods are show to support a maximum load of 300# per truss. Where is this to be used? 4. As previously requested, please provide structural details and calculations specific for each exhaust hood and suspended fan coil units. END OF REVIEW |
11/19/2013 | ROBERT SHERRY | PLUMBING-COMMERCIAL | REVIEW | Approved | |
11/20/2013 | ROBERT SHERRY | MECHANICAL-COMMERCIAL | REVIEW | Denied | 1. Coordinate the information on the drawings with the component information on the COMcheck data entry. Verify the U-factors of the fenestration components (there are conflicting values on sheets A2 and A9). Coordinate the component descriptions, i.e. window type 1 has a metal frame on the drawings but is calculated as having a wood frame on COMcheck. Use Tucson for the evaluation, not the Town of Pima, which is in Graham County. Clarify the nature of the roof and wall insulation. The existing roof appears to have continuous insulation but is it R-38 or R-5? The new roof has R-38 cavity insulation but the R-5 continuous insulation is not shown. The exterior walls have either R-13 or R-15 cavity insulation depending where you look. [Initial comment: Clarify the basis for the envelope energy calculations. The component listing shows a total roof area of 4900 square feet with both R-38 cavity insulation plus R-38 continuous insulation. The walls are shown as having R-21 cavity insulation plus R-21 continuous insulation. The drawings do not support these entries. Only the new roof (far less than the 4900 square feet noted and "exposed interior conditions") appears to have R-38 cavity insulation. No continuous roof or wall insulation is shown on the drawings. Provide energy code compliance calculations for the additions to the building envelope that are supported by the drawings. Provide sufficient detail on the drawings to evaluate the energy compliance of the additions to the building envelope. The information shown for the windows includes the shade coefficient. Multiply the shade coefficient by 0.87 to obtain the solar heat gain factor. Reference: Sections C101.4.3, C101.5, and C103.2, International Energy Conservation Code 2012.] 2. Coordinate the checked line items with the drawings (e.g. the drawings do not show any entry vestibules). [Initial comment: Complete the Envelope Compliance Certificate by checking the appropriate line items in Section 3, the Air Leakage, Component Certification, and Vapor Retarder Requirements. Supporting documentation shall be either on the drawings or in the project manual. ] 3. Provide a copy of the listing information that includes the manufacturer's installation instructions. [Initial comment: Provide the listing information for the pizza oven. Reference: Section 301.5, IMC 2012.] 4. Show the manufacturer's minimum mounting height for the infra-red heaters and verify the mounting angle for the heaters does not result in insufficient clearances. Reference: Section 303.1, IFGC 2012. |
