10/17/2013 | ROBERT SHERRY | MECHANICAL-COMMERCIAL | REVIEW | Denied | 1. Clarify the basis for the envelope energy calculations. The component listing shows a total roof area of 4900 square feet with both R-38 cavity insulation plus R-38 continuous insulation. The walls are shown as having R-21 cavity insulation plus R-21 continuous insulation. The drawings do not support these entries. Only the new roof (far less than the 4900 square feet noted and "exposed interior conditions") appears to have R-38 cavity insulation. No continuous roof or wall insulation is shown on the drawings. Provide energy code compliance calculations for the additions to the building envelope that are supported by the drawings. Provide sufficient detail on the drawings to evaluate the energy compliance of the additions to the building envelope. The information shown for the windows includes the shade coefficient. Multiply the shade coefficient by 0.87 to obtain the solar heat gain factor. Reference: Sections C101.4.3, C101.5, and C103.2, International Energy Conservation Code 2012. 2. Complete the Envelope Compliance Certificate by checking the appropriate line items in Section 3, the Air Leakage, Component Certification, and Vapor Retarder Requirements. Supporting documentation shall be either on the drawings or in the project manual. 3. Provide the listing information for the pizza oven. Reference: Section 301.5, IMC 2012. 4. Show that the total amount of ventilation air introduced by the HVAC unit FC-1 is sufficient to supply the air required for transfer to the restrooms and for ventilation of the other spaces being served by FC-1. Reference: Section 403.2.2, IMC 2012. 5. The required exhaust for the kitchen is 0.7 CFM per square foot, not 0.07 CFM per square foot. Reference: Section 403.3, IMC 2012. 6. Verify that the hood canopy extends at least 6" horizontally on all open sides beyond the edge of the top horizontal surface of the appliances under the hood. Reference: Section 507.12, IMC 2012. |

10/18/2013 | ROBERT SHERRY | PLUMBING-COMMERCIAL | REVIEW | Denied | 1. Clarify keynote #1 on sheet P1 as it relates to equipment numbers 7, 23, 24, 25, and 26. 2. Southwest Gas delivers 7" WC at the meter but the gas meter load chart on sheet P5 indicates that the convection oven requires a gas pressure of 7" WC. Verify that the oven will operate with an inlet pressure below 7" WC. Reference: Section 303.2, IPC 2012. 3. The rim elevation of the next upstream sanitary manhole (2385.1') is less than 12" below the first floor elevation (2583.3'). Provide backwater valve per Section 715.1, IPC 2012, as amended by the City of Tucson. |
