07/17/2013 ROBERT SHERRY PLUMBING-COMMERCIAL REVIEW Denied 1. This building is under the jurisdiction of the City of Tucson, not Houston.
2. The 2012 International Plumbing Code and the 2012 International Fuel Gas Code have been adopted by the City of Tucson. The use of the 2012 Uniform Plumbing Code is allowed provided an appeal to the building official is filed. There is no charge for this appeal. This activity has been reviewed based on the use of the 2012 UPC; additional comments may be made if the appeal is not filed.
3. The minimum residual water pressure is 15 PSI unless it can be shown that no specified fixtures or appliances require minimum residual pressures greater than 8 PSI. Note that some water closets and some appliances (e.g. dishwashers and clothes washers) require minimum residual pressures greater than 15 PSI. Reference: Section 608.1, UPC 2012.
4. Revise the pipe sizing chart to limit the water velocity to less than 8 fps and 5 fps for cold water and hot water respectively in the copper piping. Reference: Section 610.12.1, UPC 2012.
5. Provide a downstream cleanout for the proposed gravity grease interceptor. Reference: Sections 707.4, 704.7, and 707.8, UPC 2012.
6. Provide separately piped indirect waste drains for the three compartment sink. Reference: Section 801.2.3, UPC 2012.
7. Clarify where detail 2/P-2 occurs. Each vent pipe shall rise vertically to a minimum of 6" above the flood-level rim of the fixture it serves before offsetting horizontally. Reference: Sections 210.0 (Horizontal pipe) and 905.3, UPC 2012.
8. Provide a downstream vent for the proposed hydromechanical grease interceptor. Reference: Sections 1002.1, 1009.4, and 1014.2.2, UPC 2012. (Detail A/P-3 shows a flow control device downstream of the hydromechanical grease interceptor and a vent upstream of the hydromechanical grease interceptor.)
9. The flow control device for a hydromechanical grease interceptor shall be installed in a location that is readily accessible and visible. (Show how the floor sinks are to be connected to the hydromechanical grease interceptor.) Reference: Section 1014.2, UPC 2012.
10. No system vent shall be located between a flow control device and a hydromechanical grease interceptor. Reference: Section 1014.2, UPC 2012.
11. Clarify the gas load for each of the three sections of the pizza oven; the note on detail C/P-3 implies that each section has an input of 160 CFH but the total gas load shown for the meter only accounts for 160 CFH for the entire pizza oven. Correct the pipe sizes as required. Reference: Section 1208.4, UPC 2012.
