06/03/2013 | ROBERT SHERRY | PLUMBING-COMMERCIAL | REVIEW | Denied | 1. The International Plumbing Code, 2012, is the controlling code for this structure, not the 2006 International Plumbing Code. Reference: Section 101, IBC 2012. 2. Provide water pressure and water pipe sizing calculations. Reference: Sections 604.1 and 604.3, IPC 2012. 3. Verify that the tempered water for the lavatories and public hand-washing sinks is being provided using approved devices conforming to ASSE 1070. Reference: Sections 416.5 and 607.1.2, IPC 2012. 4. Provide separate indirect waste pipes for each compartment of the 3-compartment sink to protect against cross-contamination or fouling. Reference: Sections 801.2 and 802.1.8, IPC 2012. 5. Provide a cleanout at the base of the roof drain stack prior to connection to a horizontal storm drain. Reference: Sections 708.3.4 and 1101.8, IPC 2012. 6. Coordinate the connection of the primary roof drain leader with the civil plans; keynote #9 on sheet P3 refers to the civil plans for continuation but no storm drain sewers are shown connecting to the building storm drain. 7. 06/03/2013 | ROBERT SHERRY | WATER | REVIEW | Denied | 1. Reduced pressure backflow prevention assemblies are required to be installed directly after the water meter for buildings that have food service facilities and in locations accessible to Tucson Water (not in the building, as shown on sheet P1). Reference: Chapter XXVII, Article V, Section 27-72, the Tucson Code, http://cms3.tucsonaz.gov/sites/default/files/water/docs/backflow-ordinance.pdf 2. Coordinate the design of the water service to the building; the civil design (sheet C7) shows a separate water meter being installed for irrigation use at the property line, not a branch from the water distribution system from within the building. |
06/03/2013 | ROBERT SHERRY | MECHANICAL-COMMERCIAL | REVIEW | Denied | 1. The International Mechanical Code, 2012, is the controlling code for this structure, not the 2006 International Mechanical Code. Reference: Section 101, IBC 2012. 2. Provide information on the sequence of operation for the restroom exhaust fans to show that all of the air supplied to the restrooms will be exhausted with no more than 10% exhausted air being recirculated. Reference: Section 403.2.1 (4), IMC 2012. 3. The occupant load used for calculating the minimum required ventilation is to be based on Table 403.3, IMC 2012 or an approved engineering analysis of the specific occupancy type. Submit an appeal to the building official if you wish to provide an alternative analysis (see http://cms3.tucsonaz.gov/files/dsd/Forms-Fees-Maps/Appeal_form4.pdf). Reference: Section 403.3, IMC 2012. 4. The ventilation calculations in the 2012 IMC are radically different from the 2006 IMC calculations; revise the calculations and resubmit. Reference: Section 403.3, IMC 2012. 5. The shop drawings for the broiler hood (EF-1) indicate an exhaust duct that is 7.5" x 7.5" instead of the 8" diameter duct shown on the design drawings. Similarly, the griddle hood (EF-2) and the fryer hood (EF-3) shop drawings have different exhaust duct sizes compared to the design drawings. Verify that these changes will not void the manufacturer's listing for the hoods. Reference: Sections 304.1 and 507.1, IMC 2012. 6. Show that the outlet of fans EF-2 and EF-3 comply with the requirements of Section 506.5.5, IMC 2012. 7. The 2012 International Energy Compliance Code is the relevant energy code for this project. Revise the envelope and the mechanical compliance certificates using the correct code. |
