06/06/2013 ROBERT SHERRY PLUMBING-COMMERCIAL REVIEW Denied At 25 GPM, the water velocity in 1" Type L copper tubing is approximately 9.7 feet per second. Revise the size of the branch piping to reduce the velocity to less than 8 feet per second. [Initial comment: Sheet A110 shows what appear to be existing tank-type water closets but flush valve water closets are to replace the existing water closets. Table 604.3, IPC 2012 requires a design capacity of 25 GPM for supply pipes serving siphonic flush-valve water closets. If tank-type water closets are being replaced by flush-valve water closets, verify that the water velocity in the existing supply pipes will not exceed the maximum velocity recommended by the piping manufacturer or accepted engineering practice (e.g. 8 FPS in copper tubing). Reference: Sections 303.2 and 604.1, IPC 2012.]
