03/20/2013 ROBERT SHERRY WATER REVIEW Denied Show the location and size of the reduced pressure principle backflow preventer for the water service. Reference: Section 107.2.1, IBC 2012.
03/20/2013 ROBERT SHERRY PLUMBING-COMMERCIAL REVIEW Denied 1. Provide reference copies of the civil drawings noted on sheets P-1.1 and P-1.2. Reference: Section 107.2.1, IBC 2012.
2. Coordinate the gas piping plan on sheet P-1.1and the gas piping riser diagram on sheet P-1.2. Verify the total developed pipe lengths; based on the piping plan, the developed pipe length from the gas meter to RTU-3 is just over 152 feet. Using your pipe sizes, the pressure drop from the meter to RTU-3 exceeds 0.5" of water. Reference: Section 107.2.1, IBC 2012 and Section 402.3, IFGC 2012.
3. Verify that the pipe sizes called out for the flush valves will not result in water velocities greater than that recommended by the pipe manufacturer (e.g. limit the water velocity to less than 8 FPS for CPVC piping). Reference: Table 604.3, IPC 2012.
4. Revise detail 3/P-1.1 so that the installation of the wall drain box detail (3/P1.1) complies with the ready access requirement of Section 802.3, IPC 2012. Reference: Section 202, "Ready Access", IPC 2012.
5. Provide protection of the trap seals for all floor drains subject to infrequent use. Reference: Section 1002.4, IPC 2012.
03/20/2013 ROBERT SHERRY MECHANICAL-COMMERCIAL REVIEW Denied 1. Revise the sequence of operation for the restroom exhaust fans so that the supply air is exhausted even when the lights are turned off during the operating hours of the building. Reference: Section 403.2.1 (4), IMC 2006.
2. The occupant load (e.g. on the retail sales floor) used for calculating the minimum required ventilation is to be based on Table 403.3, IMC 2012 or an approved engineering analysis of the specific occupancy type. Reference: Section 403.3, IMC 2012.
3. Revise the ventilation calculations to include an air distribution effectiveness value of 0.8 (ceiling supply, ceiling return, warm air greater than 15 degrees Fahrenheit above space temperature). Reference: Section 403.3.1.2, IMC 2012.
4. Coordinate Specification Section 15940 with the packaged rooftop unit schedule (remark #7) to provide smoke detectors in the return air ducts (or within the RTU), upstream of any filters or outside air connections. Reference: Section 606.2.1, IMC 2012.
5. Show that each rooftop unit has a thermostatic control that provides for off-hour and set-back control, automatic shutdown and start-up control and, if the control does not require manual changeover from the heating and cooling modes, restricts set point overlap. Reference: Sections C403.2.4.1, C403.2.4.2, C403.2.4.3, C403.2.4.3, C403.2.4.3.1, C403.2.4.3.2, and C403.2.4.3.3, IECC 2012.
