02/25/2013 ROBERT SHERRY PLUMBING-COMMERCIAL REVIEW Denied Comment not resolved; neither the architect nor the structural engineer provided calculations or a design for the water heater support shelf. [Original comment: Provide a design for the mounting shelves for the water heaters along with structural calculations to show that the water heaters are safely supported. Reference: Sections 310.0 and 314.5, UPC 2006.]
02/25/2013 ROBERT SHERRY MECHANICAL-COMMERCIAL REVIEW Denied 1. Comment not resolved; for the exhaust stream to stay below 25% of the lower flammability limit, a maximum of 5.4 CFM of adhesive spray can be used. The spray is sold in three cylinder sizes: 8 lb, 27.3 lb, and 139 lb. Which size will be stocked and how much will be used at one time? Note that the propellant as well as the adhesive is flammable. [Original comment: Provide information regarding the nature of the exhaust discharge from the slotted hood and show that the location of the exhaust outlet complies with the requirements of Sections 501.2, 501.2.1, and 502.7, IMC 2006.]
2. The equipment schedule calls for 1725 CFM of outside air to be delivered to the fourth floor. With the energy recovery unit exhausting 1750 CFM, and the slotted hood exhausting 1800 CFM, how can transfer grilles from the fourth floor beyond the art layout room be able to provide adequate makeup air? [Original comment: Show how adequate make up air will be provided to the room containing the slotted exhaust hood when the hood is operating. Reference: Section 501.3, IMC 2006.]
