01/16/2013 ROBERT SHERRY PLUMBING-COMMERCIAL REVIEW Denied 1. Correct the detail titles on sheet P2.2.
2. Clarify how the sinks P-3 and P-6 are connected to the drain system in detail 2/P1.0. Reference: Section 103.2.3, UPC 2006.
3. Clarify how the temperature mixing valves, TMV-1 and TMV-2, are to be integrated into a recirculating hot water system; detail 205 addresses a point-of-use application only. The manufacturer states that this particular type of mixing valve should not be used for temperature control at the hot water source in a recirculating system due to the risk of bacterial growth in the piping if the water circulates at a temperature less than 140 degrees Fahrenheit. In addition, the specified mixing valves are not listed to ASSE 1016 as shown in the fixture specifications. Reference: Section 310.4, UPC 2006.
4. Clarify how TMV-1, as shown in detail 2/P1.1, is able to accommodate the connected load of two showers, four lavatories, a 2-compartment sink, and a mop sink. Mixing valve TMV-2, as shown in detail 2/P1.1, is similarly installed. In both cases, the specified mixing valves will see a demand of 10 GPM and have a pressure drop of approximately 28 PSI. Reference: Sections 310.4 and 608.1, UPC 2006.
5. Provide shower control valves that comply with the requirements of Section 418.0, UPC 2006.
6. In detail 2/P1.0, a new 3" drain is connected to an existing 4" building drain but no 4" cleanout is shown. Provide cleanouts sized per Section 707.11, UPC 2006.
7. Clarify how the ice machine, P-10, and its backflow preventer will be able to drain using gravity flow to the specified washer box, P-10A. Reference: Section 804.1, UPC 2006.
8. Coordinate the total connected load for the gas meter shown on the plumbing plans and the gas diagram with the gas meter load (Phase 2). Reference: Section 1209.1, UPC 2006.
