01/02/2013 ROBERT SHERRY PLUMBING-COMMERCIAL REVIEW Denied 1. Clarify the size of the upstream and downstream cleanouts for the proposed gravity grease interceptor; plumbing plan 2/P2.1 shows 3" cleanouts but detail 3/P4.1 shows 4" cleanouts. Reference: Sections 316.4.1 and 707.11, UPC 2006.
2. Appliances (e.g. ice makers) to be directly connected to the water supply system that do not have listed, integral backflow preventers or integral air gaps conforming to Table 6-3, UPC 2006 require backflow prevention. Specify the type of backflow prevention device required for each water connection. Reference: Sections 602.3, 603.0, and Table 6-2, UPC 2006.
3. A dual check valve (detail 2/P2.2) is not acceptable for protecting the water supply to a carbonator. See the plumbing fixture schedule (Physical Education Facility, P5.1) for the correct backflow protection device. Reference: Section 603.4.12, UPC 2006.
4. Provide a direct waste connection for the wash and rinse sections of the 3-compartment sink (K-14), with an indirect connection for the sanitizing compartment only. Reference: Sections 304.0, 704.3, and 801.2.3, UPC 2006.
5. Each vent pipe shall rise vertically to a minimum of 6" above the flood-level rim of the fixture it serves before offsetting horizontally (e.g. FD-1 fixtures that are within five feet of a wall). Coordinate with the structural design on the new buildings and building additions. Reference: Section 905.3, UPC 2006.
6. Provide protection of the trap seals for all floor drains subject to infrequent use. Reference: Sections 316.4.1, 1004.0, 1007.0, and 1007.1, UPC 2006, as amended by the City of Tucson.
7. Revise the size of the proposed roof scuppers to comply with the requirements of Section 1101.11.2.1, UPC 2006. Provide overflow protection for the roof. Note that the minimum dimension of a scupper is 4".
8. Provide the sizes of the downspouts for the gutters. Reference: Section 1106.0, UPC 2006.
9. Revise the sizing calculations for the gutters and downspouts for the Phys Ed Restroom building. Include the slope of the gutter. Reference: Section 1106.0, UPC 2006.
10. Clarify the roof drainage design for the campus restrooms; the calculations refer to gutters but the roof plan shows a scupper.
11. Provide calculations to show that the overflow opening in detail 7/A4.2 has at least the same capacity as the specified roof scupper. Reference: 1101.11.2.2, UPC 2006.
12. Provide calculations to verify that the "slotted metal gravel stop" located in the scupper in detail 7/A4.2 has been included in the determination of the required scupper width. Reference: Section 101.11.2.1, UPC 2006.
13. Show the natural gas piping system that is to be revised to install unit heater UH-5-1; provide all of the connected loads and the developed lengths from the meter to the gas-fired appliances. Reference: Sections 103.2.3, 1209.1.1, and 1209.1.2, UPC 2006.

01/03/2013 ROBERT SHERRY MECHANICAL-COMMERCIAL REVIEW Denied 1. For all of the new buildings and the building additions, provide energy code compliance calculations for the building envelopes using the climate zone for Pima County < 4,000 feet (the town of Pima, Arizona is located in Graham County). Provide sufficient detail on the drawings to evaluate the energy compliance of the building envelopes. The information shall, as a minimum, include U-factors of the envelope systems and fenestration components, along with the R-values of the insulation and the SHGC for the fenestration. Reference: Sections 101.4 and 104.2, International Energy Conservation Code 2006.
2. Revise the envelope energy calculations for the ticket booth to reflect the construction shown on the drawings. The booth does not have an attic roof with wood joists, it does not have any continuous roof insulation, the R-value for the batt insulation in the roof cavity is not called out, the window on the north wall is not shown in the calculations, and the SHGF and U-value for the south window is not shown on the drawings.
3. Revise the envelope energy calculations for the physical education building to reflect the construction shown on the drawings. In some locations the building roof has continuous insulation and in other areas the roof has batt insulation in the cavity, but not both insulation types for the same roof area and no walls are shown with R-13 cavity insulation.
4. Provide separate envelope energy calculations for the physical education restroom building. Revise the calculations to reflect the construction shown on the drawings. The drawings show that the building roof has batt insulation in the roof cavity but no continuous roof insulation. No walls are shown with any continuous insulation.
6. Revise the envelope energy calculations for the campus restroom building to reflect the construction shown on the drawings. The drawings show that the building roof is constructed with a metal deck over steel joists and has batt insulation in the roof cavity but no continuous roof insulation.
7. Revise the envelope energy calculations for the restroom additions to reflect the construction shown on the drawings. The drawings show that the building roofs are constructed with a wood deck over wood joists with batt insulation in the roof cavity. No continuous roof insulation is shown.
8. Revise the duct construction specifications to comply with the joint sealing requirements of Section 503.2.7, IECC 2006.
