06/20/2013 RONALD BROWN BUILDING-COMMERCIAL REVIEW Denied 1. The classification of the structures have been determined to be S-2, Open Parking Garage and requires separation as per Table 602.
a. The existing 5'/6' high masonary wall is acceptable as a fire separation for the most Northerly shade structure.
b. The new 6' high masonry wall along your westerly property is acceptable as a fire separation for both structures along this property line.
c. Further clarification of the location of the most Southerly structure needs to be provided. What is the separation distance of the structure from the existing building? Page 4 of the 11 x 17 PV drawings shows it to be located some good amount of distance away from the existing building whereas page 2 of 17 shows the shade canopy to be flush with the existing building edge. Please reconcile all site plan drawings (3) and provide dimensions.
d. Table 602 of the 2006 IBC, requires a 10' separation from the building or a 1 hour rated wall separation. If the canopy is less than 10' from the existing building please confirm a 1 hour rated exiting building wall.
2. Please provide a structural anlaysis of the existing roof structure for the new roof mounted PV load.
3. On page 3 of 17:
a. please show the dimensional height of the existing masonry fence and the dimension from the roof overhang.
c. Please show the existing building wall, it's height, the dimension from the canopy overhang and the wall construction material.

New Shade Structure and PV System

1. Sheet 8A shows a 400 amp fused disconnect feeding a new CT Can, Sheet 9B does not show the 400 amp disconnect ?
2. If Sheet 9B is correct one to use all main over current devices must be near to the new CT Can where they recieve power and grouped per 230.70.A and 230.72.A.
3. The new CT Can cannot be called Panel A, A CT Can does not have overcurrent device as a panel does.
4. Since service is being upgraded must show a grounding system for the change, along with size and what it will attach to.
5. In going to a 3 phase 120/242 volt system you now have a high leg of 208 volts for phase B for all power after the service ( TEP places the high leg on C phase). This is not addressed according to 110.15,230.56,408.3F,and 409.102 of the NEC.
6. In going to a 3 phase 120/240 volt high leg service the distribution changes to the panels, they can no longer place a 120 volt on B phase, how would these panels change ?
7. The fault current values increase for a 3 phase 120/240v
400 amp service, this must also be addresed and marked on the drawings and panels, if fault current above 10,000 AIC per NEC 110.9 and 10.
