01/07/2013 RONALD BROWN BUILDING-COMMERCIAL REVIEW Approved
01/15/2013 ROBERT SHERRY MECHANICAL-COMMERCIAL REVIEW Denied The air handler has a capacity of approximately 39 tons of refrigeration which requires a condensate drain with a minimum size of 1-1/4" per Section 307.2, IMC 2006 as amended by the City of Tucson. [Original comment: Show the size, routing, and termination of the condensate drain for the new air handler. Reference: Section 307.2, IMC 2006 as amended by the City of Tucson. ]
01/15/2013 ROBERT SHERRY PLUMBING-COMMERCIAL REVIEW Denied 1. Comment not resolved; there are two issues with the revisions that have been made to the plumbing drawings. First, a direct connection to the tailpiece of a sink (or similar fixture) is allowed only for condensate waste from an air conditioning coil (Section 807.2, UPC 2006); drinking fountains may be installed using an indirect waste to an approved indirect waste receptor with either an air gap or with an air break (Sections 801.3 and 809.0, UPC 2006). Note: point-of-use water dispensers typically do not have a drain. Second, show how the service sink drain is to be connected to the existing drain piping. [Original comment: Provide the minimum plumbing facilities required by Table 2902.1 and Section 2902.2, IBC 2006, for a business occupancy. See also, Section 1109.5.1, IBC 2006.]
2. The roof plan indicates that there are two distinct and separate drainage patterns for the new roof. Taken separately, each roof section requires a 3" roof drain (Table 11-1, UPC 2006) and the minimum size for each scupper would have a width equal to the circumference of the required roof drain, i.e. a 3" drain requires a scupper width of at least 9.42" (Section 1101.11.2.1, UPC 2006). Calculation of the area of the required roof drain is not appropriate when determining the width of a scupper. [Original comment: Revise the size of the provided scuppers to comply with the requirements of Section 1101.11.2.1, UPC 2006. Provide overflow protection for the roof. Refer also to Section 1106.4, UPC 2006.]
