Based on Table 12-8, UPC 2006, a 3" carbon steel pipe is capable of passing 1620 CFH with a 0.5" WC drop for only 350 feet. Earlier editions of the UPC (e.g. 1988) show basically the same data. It may be that the earlier design incorrectly assumed a heating value of 1100 BTU per cubic foot of natural gas which would have resulted in 1474 CFH. |
