| 11/01/2012 | ROBERT SHERRY | MECHANICAL-COMMERCIAL | REVIEW | Denied | 1. The occupant load used to calculate the required ventilation is not necessarily the same as the occupant load used for calculating exiting requirements. The occupant load used for calculating the minimum required ventilation is to be based on Table 403.3, IMC 2006 or an approved engineering analysis of the specific occupancy type. Reference: Section 403.3, IMC 2006. 2. Clarify the operation instructions for the restroom exhaust fan, PRV-1. The mechanical equipment specifications call for the fan to run continuously during occupied mode but also for the fan to be wired to operate with the light switch in the men's restroom. Revise the sequence of operation for the restroom exhaust fan so that all of the air supplied to the restrooms will be exhausted during operating hours. Reference: Section 403.2.1 (4), IMC 2006. 3. Note: the location of the proposed restaurant is approximately 2,330 feet elevation and the COMcheck envelope compliance certificate should be done using "Pima County < 4,000 ft" elevation (climate zone 2b), not "Pima County >= 4,000 ft", which is for climate zone 5b. 4. Show that the clearances from combustibles for the grease duct comply with Section 506.3.6, IMC 2006 where the duct is not wrapped with the 3M Fire Barrier Duct Wrap. 5. Provide structural calculations and details to show that the Type I and Type II hoods are supported from the building structure in accordance with Section 507.6, IMC 2006. Reference: Section 302.1, IMC 2006. 6. Verify that the hood installation complies with Section 507.9, IMC 2006 with regard to a smooth, cleanable, non-absorbent, and non-combustible material installed between the hood and the wall, and extending 18" beyond the hood (a note on finish plan A7/A6 calls for the stainless steel "to hood edge"). |

| 11/02/2012 | ROBERT SHERRY | PLUMBING-COMMERCIAL | REVIEW | Denied | 1. Revise the font size used on the drawings to a minimum of 3/32-inch (all upper case). Reference: Section 106.1.1, IBC 2006. 2. Provide a site drawing showing the size and route of the building water supply along with the location and size of both the water meter and the reduced pressure backflow preventer assembly; the size, route, and slope of the building sewer along with the installation drawings for the grease interceptor, and the backwater valve. The Development Plans are not construction drawings. Reference: Section 103.2.3, UPC 2006. 3. Provide information to show that the hub drain complies with Sections 411.1 and 804.1, UPC 2006. 4. Show that the floor of the restroom slopes toward the floor drain. Reference: Section 411.2, UPC 2006. 5. Verify that the return piping for recirculated hot water for water heater being introduced to the water heater independently from the cold water supply to the water heater complies with the manufacturer's listing information. Reference: Section 103.2.3, UPC 2006. 6. Provide a reduced pressure principle backflow prevention assembly for the misting system. Reference: Section 603.4.6.2, UPC 2006. 7. Provide a shut off valve for the water service at the building entrance. Reference: Section 605.2, UPC 2006. 8. Verify the calculation of the total water service demand. The use of Section 610.11 for determining the fixture units for flush valve fixtures is designed to allow pipe sizing as if the water distribution system was equipped with only flush tanks. The appropriate method to determine demand in this situation is to use curve 2 of Chart A3. Reference: Section 610.1, UPC 2006. 9. Provide upper terminal cleanouts on horizontal drainage pipes exceeding 5 feet in length (horizontal drain lines serving sinks and urinals require cleanouts regardless of length). Reference: Section 707.4, UPC 2006. 10. The rim elevation of the next upstream sanitary manhole (2330.12') is less than 12" below the first floor elevation (2330.67'). Provide backwater valve per Section 710.1, UPC 2006, as amended by the City of Tucson. 11. Provide vent piping of sufficient size to comply with Section 904.1, UPC 2006. Vents located upstream from backwater valves or other devices that obstruct the free flow of gases between the building sewer and the outside atmosphere shall not be used for meeting the required cross-sectional vent area. 12. Provide details of the installation of the gas piping in the patio columns. Reference: Sections 1211.1.6 and 1211.3, UPC 2006. 13. Provide natural gas pipe sizing calculations for the gas piping leading to the patio. As a hybrid system with regard to the pipe materials, you need to show that the gas pressure from the meter to the any gas outlet in the system does not drop more than 0.5 inches of water column at full demand. Include the developed pipe lengths of the CSST on the plans. Reference: Sections 1211.17 and 1217.0, UPC 2006. |
