05/12/2015 | ROBERT SHERRY | MECHANICAL-COMMERCIAL | REVIEW | Reqs Change | 1. The condensate drains have been moved out of the electrical room but the fan coil remains. With no electrical power drawings I must assume that electrical equipment could be located anywhere in the room; move the fan coil out of the electrical room. [Second comment: Show how the requirements of Article 110.26 (E) (1), NEC 2011 have been addressed.] [Initial comment: Verify that the installation of fan coil FC 2-2 and the condensate drain piping from fan coils FC 2-1 and FC 2-2 comply with all clearance requirements for electrical rooms. Reference: Section 106.1.1, IBC 2006.] 2. Show how the area served by fan coil 2-4 is supplied with outside air. [Second comment: Provide ventilation calculations to show that an adequate flow rate of outside air is being introduced to the rooms adjacent to the area served by FC 1-4 and FC 2-4. Note that ASHRAE Standard 62.1-2007 includes air classifications that limit the recirculation of air between spaces having different classes (e.g. a science classroom or an art classroom has class 2 air and the air from these areas may not be transferred to a room with class 1 air). The room names and areas have changed from the previously approved plans: revise the calculations to reflect this and include all of the building areas.] [Initial comment: All of the fan coils are scheduled to have outside air; clarify the source of the outside air for FC 1-1, FC 1-4, FC 2-1, and FC 2-4. Reference: Section 403.3, IMC 2006, as amended by the City of Tucson.] 3. As stated in the initial comment, "Smoke detectors shall be located upstream of any outside air connections." Diluting the return air with outside air would result in decreased sensitivity for smoke detection. [Second comment: Of the six fan coils that require duct smoke detectors, three have the smoke detectors located downstream of the outside air intake (FC 1-1, FC 1-2, and FC 1-5) and two do not have a duct smoke detector shown on the drawings (FC 2-1 and FC 2-3). Fan coil FC 1-3, is not required to have a duct smoke detector but the 1st floor mechanical plan indicates that one has been installed downstream of the outside air intake.] [Initial comment: Smoke detectors shall be located upstream of any outside air connections. Reference: Section 606.2.1, IMC 2006.] |
