| 09/25/2013 | CLAYTON TREVILLYAN | BUILDING-RESIDENTIAL | REVIEW | Reqs Change | PLAN REVIEW COMMENTS Date: 9-26-13 Activity: T12CM05408 2nd review Address: 874 E Alturas St Applicant: Dana Holguin This letter reflects comments to be addressed. The purpose of this review is to verify compliance to the 2012 International Residential Code with local amendments. In order to facilitate a shorter back check time, we request that you please provide two complete sets of revised plans and calculations, along with a written response to each of the noted items indicating action taken. Other comment references may be derived from additional codes and standards adopted by The City of Tucson. All features have been checked only to the extent allowed by the submittals provided for review. All portions of this project are assumed to meet other departmental requirements, conditions, and concerns before permit approval. ELEVATIONS: 1. Clarify why there is attic ventilation provided into the conditioned area of the building, R806.2. The ceiling insulation provided on the construction drawings is clearly indicated to be applied tight to the roof sheathing which makes the attic space inside the thermal envelope. This construction method falls under the category of 'unvented attic assemblies' per R806.5. Remove gable end venting or relocate the thermal envelope below the ventilated space. MECHANICAL PLAN: 2. Provide Manual D calculations for the forced air unit in accordance with M1401.3, M1601.1. A duct layout calculation is necessary for the forced air system. 3. Clarify the location of the supply air ducts for the proposed down-draft forced air unit. The soffit provided for the supply duct is located at the ceiling line according to the submitted drawings. The forced air unit specified is a down draft system with the supply duct located on the bottom of the unit. The mechanical platform detail provided does not show how the supply air gets from the bottom of the unit to the top of the ceiling.
