08/08/2012 | MARTIN BROWN | FIRE | REVIEW | Approved | Be advised, Tucson Fire would prefer NO installation of double check backflow prevnter (Sheet P2.2.2). Not required by Tucson Water if wafer check valve is installed on riser, and maintained. |

08/22/2012 | ROBERT SHERRY | WATER | REVIEW | Denied | Water service for the existing portion of the gym is receiving water service from an existing 3" water service pipe. The site utility drawing (C4.0) however does not include this portion of the site. Provide a site plan that indicates the source of water for the existing portion of the gym, including the size of the meter and the size and type of backflow preventer. |
08/22/2012 | ROBERT SHERRY | PLUMBING-COMMERCIAL | REVIEW | Denied | 1. Revise the layout of the two new restrooms on the north side of the existing gym to comply with the requirements of Section 405.3.2, IPC 2006 (i.e. "the required lavatory shall be located in the same room as the required water closet"). 2. If the new lobby is truly a building independent of the new classroom building, provide outdoor shutoff valves for the water service and natural gas service to the lobby. Reference: Section 409.3.2, IFGC 2006 and Section 606.1 IPC 2006. 3. The new lobby for this building appears to be receiving water service from a new 3" water meter and backflow preventer and is not dependent upon any existing, unknown piping. Provide water pressure and water pipe sizing calculations. Reference: Sections 604.1 and 604.3, IPC 2006. 4. A backwater valve is proposed for the building sewer extending from the lobby but no information is provided to show the rim elevation of the next upstream manhole to justify the backwater valve. Provide the rim elevation of the next upstream manhole. Reference: Section 715.1, IPC 2006. (A note on sheet P2.2.1 references the site plan for the continuation of the building sewer from the gym but the site plan does not include that area of the site.) 5. Clarify the note calling for a 2-way cleanout to be installed with the proposed backwater valve; detail 3/P4.2 shows only a one-way cleanout with a backwater valve. Reference: Section 708.3.5, IPC 2006. 6. Verify that all of the vents rise vertically to at least 6" above the flood rims of the fixtures they protect prior to running horizontally (except for vents located outdoors). Reference: Section 905.4, IPC 2006. 7. Provide protection of the trap seals for all floor drains subject to infrequent use. Elastomeric devices designed to physically seal the trap and prevent loss of the water seal (e.g. Pro-vent Trap Guards, Sure Seal Trap Sealers, et al) are not approved for use in the City of Tucson. Reference: Sections 706.2 and 1002.4, IPC 2006. 8. Provide roof drainage calculations and plans for the high and low roofs for the new lobby. Include the effect of the surrounding vertical walls. Provide overflow protection for the roofs. Reference: Sections 1101, 1106 and 1107, IPC 2006. |
08/22/2012 | ROBERT SHERRY | MECHANICAL-COMMERCIAL | REVIEW | Denied | 1. Provide energy code compliance calculations for the additions to the gym envelope (i.e. do not combine the addition to the gym with parts of other buildings). Provide sufficient detail on the drawings to evaluate the energy compliance of the additions to the building envelope. The information shall, as a minimum, include U-factors of the envelope systems and fenestration components, along with the R-values of the insulation and the SHGC for the fenestration. Reference: Sections 101.4, 101.4.3, and 104.2, International Energy Conservation Code 2006. 2. Revise the size of the condensate drains per Section 307.2, IMC 2006 as amended by the City of Tucson. 3. The occupant load used to calculate the required ventilation is not necessarily the same as the occupant load used for calculating exiting requirements. The occupant load used for calculating the minimum required ventilation is to be based on Table 403.3, IMC 2006 or an approved engineering analysis of the specific occupancy type. Reference: Section 403.3, IMC 2006. 4. Section 403.3, IMC 2006, as amended by the City of Tucson allows the use of the ASHRAE 62-1-2004 ventilation calculation procedure provided that the default occupant densities and combined outdoor air rates are used. |
