| 08/06/2012 | RICK MYERS | PLUMBING-COMMERCIAL | REVIEW | Denied | 1. Chapter four of the 2006 UPC indicates that all fixtures shall be directly connected to the sanitary sewer, except those fixtures listed in the beginning of chapter eight. Two compartments of the three compartment sink shall be directly connected to the sanitary sewer. The third compartment (the sanitizing bowl) shall be indirectly connected as required by the Health Dept. The dump sink shall be directly connected to the sanitary sewer. 2. Provide water pressure and water pipe sizing calculations; include the size of the water meter and the reduced pressure zone backflow assembly located adjacent to the water meter. Note that the manufacturer’s data sheet for the Bagel Oven indicates a minimum water pressure of 60 PSI for the steam generation. Reference: Section 610.1, UPC 2006. 3. Water specifications on sheet P6 are for copper. Note "D" for water piping materials includes the use of PEX piping. Provide the calculations for PEX as well as copper. 4. See sheet P4.0 detail seven, hydromechanical grease interceptor. Reference: 1014.3 2006 UPC. The flow control device for a hydromechanical grease interceptor shall be installed in a location that is readily accessible and visible. Reference: Section 1014.2.1, UPC 2006. 5. Provide a detail for the wet vented section at the hand sink/floor drain connection on sheet P3.0 Reference: Section 908.0 2006 UPC. 6. Amend the floor sink and floor drain details #4 and #5 on sheet P4.0: there is no combination waste and vent piping on this project. Also, clarify the sizes of the floor drains. Sheet P4.0 shows the floor drains as 3". Each drain would be counted as three drainage fixture units. Sheet P3.0 shows the floor drains as 2", or two drainage fixture units. 7. There is a BFP 3 located before the water filter. There is no BFP 3 listed in the fixture schedule, besides, a filter does not require BFP. Each water supplied appliance shall be provided with an approved type of backflow protection. Local amendments to the 2006 UPC require a reduced pressure zone backflow assembly or equivalent for carbonators. 8. A reduced pressure zone backflow assembly is required for an espresso machine because of the back pressure. 9. See sheet A8.4. Show how the scupper drain/overflow drains terminate at the bottom of the exterior wall. 10. If the option to install a storage-type water heater is offered, provide a detail of the water heater installation, including the valves, expansion tank, flue size, flue height, and flue termination. Reference: Sections 103.2.3, 605.5, 608.3, and 608.7 UPC 2006. 11. Provide a listing for the lavatory faucets showing that they are capable of limiting the water temperature to 110 degrees Fahrenheit. Reference: Section 413.1, UPC 2006 and Section 504.3, IECC 2006. 12. Revise the termination point of the water heater flue (flues?) to comply with Section 510.6.2.6, UPC 2006 (i.e. at least 3 feet above forced air inlet located within 10 feet of the flue). |

| 08/06/2012 | ROBERT SHERRY | MECHANICAL-COMMERCIAL | REVIEW | Denied | 1. Provide energy code compliance calculations for the building envelope; use the climate zone for Pima County < 4,000 feet. Provide sufficient detail on the drawings to evaluate the energy compliance of the building envelope. The information shall, as a minimum, include U-factors of the envelope systems and fenestration components, along with the R-values of the insulation and the SHGC for the fenestration. Reference: Sections 101.4 and 104.2, International Energy Conservation Code 2006. 2. Revise the size of the common condensate drain (1" minimum for two units). Reference: Section 307.2, IMC 2006 as amended by the City of Tucson. 3. Revise the sequence of operation for the restroom exhaust fan so that all of the air supplied to the restrooms will be exhausted. Reference: Section 403.2.1 (4), IMC 2006. 4. Coordinate the heating capacity of the roof top units with the plumbing design; the gas piping design appears to have mistakenly been based upon the total cooling capacities rather than the heating capacities as shown on the rooftop unit schedule. 5. Section 507.2.2, IMC 2006, exception 3, allows the installation of a "single light-duty electric convection, bread, retherm, or microwave oven" without the requirement of installing a Type II hood. Show how the additional equipment (convection oven, proofer, etc.) will be addressed. |
