08/08/2012 | ROBERT SHERRY | PLUMBING-COMMERCIAL | REVIEW | Denied | 1. Clarify the plumbing code to be used for this activity. The Code Compliance statement on sheet A-1 refers to the 2006 UPC but the Plumbing Notes on sheet P-2 call out both the 2006 UPC and the IPC. In addition, scattered notes on sheet P-1 also refer to the UPC. This review has been made using the 2006 UPC. 2. Provide the specifications for the mixing valve shown in detail 2/P-1. Reference: Section 103.2.3, UPC 2006. 3. Revise the size of the drain serving the hand sink next to the proofer oven from 1-1/2" to 2". Reference: Section 316.4.1, UPC 2006. 4. Appliances (e.g. ovens, ice makers, etc) to be directly connected to the water supply system that do not have listed, integral backflow preventers or integral air gaps conforming to Table 6-3, UPC 2006 require backflow prevention. Specify the type of backflow prevention device required for each water connection. Reference: Sections 602.3, 603.0, and Table 6-2, UPC 2006. 5. Water distribution piping shall not be constructed of PVC as noted in detail C/P-1. (Verify that the materials specified in the plumbing notes on sheet P-2 are for this activity.) Reference: Section 604.1 and Table 6-4, UPC 2006. 6. Provide calculations showing how the water supply piping has been sized. Include all existing and new fixtures and appliances served by the same water meter. Show the size of the water meter. Verify the required minimum water pressures for the appliances (e.g. the ovens) can be accommodated. Reference: Sections 610.4 and 610.5, UPC 2006. 7. An approved 2-way cleanout fitting is a listed, single fitting, not a field-assembled group of individual fittings. Reference: Sections 707.4 and 707.6, UPC 2006. 8. Install cleanouts to allow cleaning in the direction of flow. Reference: Section 707.6, UPC 2006. 9. Revise the slope of the horizontal drainage piping to comply with the requirements of Section 708.0, UPC 2006 (e.g. the minimum slope for a 3" drain is ΒΌ" drop per 12" of run). 10. Revise detail B/P-1 (Sewer isometric) and the fixture schedule note for the 3-compartment sink to correct the connections for the 3-compartment sink. The sanitizing compartment shall be indirectly-wasted; the wash and rinse compartments shall be directly-wasted (See detail 3/P-1). Reference: Section 801.2, UPC 2006. 11. Show that the indirect waste piping complies with the requirements of Section 803.0, UPC 2006 with respect to length (e.g. oven and proofer drains appear to be greater than 15'-0" long, requiring a trap and an independent vent). 12. Verify that there is sufficient drop from the oven and proofer for the indirect waste pipes to reach the floor sink (include the vertical space required for the traps). Reference: Sections 708.0, 709.0, and 803.0, UPC 2006. 13. Provide separate indirect waste pipes for each food-handling fixture (e.g. ovens, proofer). Reference: Section 801.2.3, UPC 2006. 14. Verify the size of the tailpieces for the hand sinks; the trap and trap arm may be increased no more than one pipe size greater than the fixture tailpiece. Reference: Section 1003.3, UPC 2006. 15. Provide information to show that the total number of fixture units connected to the existing gravity grease interceptor is not greater than the grease interceptor's capacity. Reference: Section 1014.3.6 and Table 10-3, UPC 2006. 16. Revise detail 6/P-1 to show the gas shutoff valve located upstream of the sediment trap to allow servicing of the trap. Reference: Sections 1214.4 and 1214.7, UPC 2006. |
08/08/2012 | ROBERT SHERRY | MECHANICAL-COMMERCIAL | REVIEW | Denied | 1. Verify the appliances to be installed with this activity. The submitted documents do not include all of the appliances (e.g. proofer, fryer, range/griddle, pot burner) and two different oven submittals are included for the single oven that is shown on the plans. Reference: Section 106.3.1, IMC 2006. 2. Clarify the construction of the wall adjacent to the Type I hood. Sheet A-1 calls for WA-1 as a '2x4 @ 24" O.C. non-bearing metal wall' but a note on sheet M-1 calls for a wall with non-combustible supports. 3. Edit the submitted fan specifications to clearly show with which standards and construction the fan is required to comply. (Note that a utility fan set is not the same as a CUBE-model fan.) Reference: Section 106.3.1, IMC 2006. 4. Provide the dimensions of the grease exhaust duct. Reference: Section 106.3.1, IMC 2006. 5. Clarify how the grease exhaust duct is to be installed: with a fire-rated shaft or with a listed duct wrap. Reference: Section 106.3.1, IMC 2006. 6. Coordinate the mechanical plan with the equipment schedules (e.g. what is the air flow from the evaporative cooler, 1200 CFM or 1900 CFM) Reference: Section 106.3.1, IMC 2006. 7. Coordinate the installation of the oven and proofer with the manufacturer's installation requirements. Reference: Section 304.1, IMC 2006. 8. Clarify keynote 7 in the mechanical plan. How is the grease duct supposed to be lined? Reference: Section 106.3.1, IMC 2006. 9. Show the water and drain piping for the evaporative cooler - it is not shown on the plumbing plans. Reference: Section 106.3.1, IMC 2006. |
