07/05/2012 | ROBERT SHERRY | PLUMBING-COMMERCIAL | REVIEW | Denied | 1. Clarify the plumbing code to be used for this activity. The Code analysis on sheet N101 refers to the 2006 UPC but on several plumbing sheets, reference is made to a combination waste and vent system using criteria from Section 912 of the 2006 IPC (no combination waste and vent system was found on the drawings however). This review has been made using the 2006 UPC. 2. Appliances (e.g. smoothie machines, ice makers, etc) to be directly connected to the water supply system that do not have listed, integral backflow preventers or integral air gaps conforming to Table 6-3, UPC 2006 require backflow prevention. Specify the type of backflow prevention device required for each water connection. Reference: Sections 602.3, 603.0, and Table 6-2, UPC 2006. 3. Revise the water pressure calculations to include the pressure drop due to the second reduced pressure backflow preventer for the domestic water service located in Room 110. The civil drawings show the installation of a reduced pressure backflow preventer assembly by the water meter, as required by Tucson Water. Reference: Section 610.2, UPC 2006. See also: Chapter XXVII, Article V, Section 27-72, the Tucson Code, http://cms3.tucsonaz.gov/sites/default/files/water/docs/backflow-ordinance.pdf 4. The rim elevation of the next upstream sanitary manhole (2655.18') is higher than the first floor elevation (2653.50'). Provide a backwater valve per Section 710.1, UPC 2006, as amended by the City of Tucson. 5. Provide vent piping of sufficient size to comply with Section 904.1, UPC 2006. Vents located upstream from pumps, ejectors, backwater valves, or other devices that obstruct the free flow of gases between the building sewer and the outside atmosphere shall not be used for meeting the required cross-sectional vent area. 6. Provide protection of the trap seals for all floor drains subject to infrequent use. Reference: Sections 1007.0 and 1007.1, UPC 2006, as amended by the City of Tucson. 7. Provide the specifications for the gravity grease interceptor and show that the size of the interceptor complies with Section 1014.3.6, UPC 2006. (Note: specifications, installation and size of the gravity grease interceptor are not adequately shown on the civil drawings.) 8. Coordinate the layout of the roof drains and overflow roof drains serving the main roof with the architectural roof plan on sheet A130. (Note that what appears to be scuppers and overflow scuppers along the south wall of the building on sheet P104 are identified as light fixtures on the architectural plans.) Reference: Sections 103.2.3 and 1101.11.1, UPC 2006. 9. Provide a cleanout at the base of each roof drain leader from the low canopies prior to their connection with the horizontal storm drain. Reference: Section 1101.12.2, UPC 2006. 10. Revise the orientation of the storm drain cleanouts located at the northeast, northwest, southwest, and southeast corners of the building (e.g. see sheet C120) so that they open to allow cleaning in the direction of flow. Reference: Sections719.4 and 1101.12.1, UPC 2006. |
