05/30/2012 | ROBERT SHERRY | PLUMBING-COMMERCIAL | REVIEW | Denied | 1. The flow rate for a water closet with a siphonic flushometer valve is approximately 25 GPM (1.6 GPF over 4 seconds); for a 1" Type L copper tube, this results in a velocity of 9.7 FPS and for a 1" PEX tube (Uponor) the velocity is 13.7 FPS. [Original comment: The branch piping sizes called out for the water closet flush valves will result in water velocities greater than 8 FPS. Limit the water velocity to less than 8 FPS for the copper piping. Reference: Sections 610.12 and A 6.1, UPC 2006 and IS 3-2003, Section 2.6.] 2. Verify the total for the gas inputs for the kitchen equipment; the revised total load appears to be 1685 CFH, not 1545 CFH. [Original comment: Verify and coordinate the natural gas inputs for the kitchen appliances with the food service drawings. Reference: Sections 103.2.3 and 1209.1, UPC 2006.] 3. Clarify the installation of KEQ#53: one unit is shown sheet p2.1 with no information and on sheet p4.1 the same unit is shown as having a trap and vent but no size information. On the kitchen equipment plans however, two KEQ#53 units are shown and the according to the manufacturer's data, the unit is a 12" x 84" trench drain with a 4" tailpiece. The second trench drain appears to be called out as a 2" hub drain on sheet p2.1. Revise the size of the waste and vent piping associated with these two trench drains. Reference: Sections 311.5 and 904.1, UPC 2006. |
