05/21/2012 RONALD BROWN BUILDING-COMMERCIAL REVIEW Approved
05/25/2012 ROBERT SHERRY MECHANICAL-COMMERCIAL REVIEW Denied 1. Comment not resolved; no expiration date has been added to the seals. Section R4-30-304 of the Rules of the Arizona State Board of Technical Registration, states that a notation shall be placed beneath the seal, either written, typed, or electronically generated, that provides the day, month, and year of the expiration of current registration. (Effective March 8, 2008).
2. Comment not resolved; sign the Compliance Statement, Section 4 of the COMcheck Envelope Compliance Certificate. [Original comment: Provide energy code compliance calculations for the building envelope; use the climate zone for Pima County < 4,000 feet (not Oro Valley). Provide sufficient detail on the drawings to evaluate the energy compliance of the building envelope. The information shall, as a minimum, include U-factors of the envelope systems and fenestration components, along with the R-values of the insulation and the SHGC for the fenestration. Reference: Sections 101.4 and 104.2, International Energy Conservation Code 2006.]
3. Comment not resolved; show the size, routing, and termination for the condensate drains for HVAC-1, HVAC-2, HVAC-3, and HVAC-4. Note that acceptable termination points are shown in Section 307.2.1, IMC 2006, as amended by the City of Tucson. [Original comment: Show the size, routing, and termination of the condensate drains. Reference: Section 307.2, IMC 2006 as amended by the City of Tucson and Section 814.0, UPC 2006.]
4. Show the balancing data for the normal ventilation and the emergency ventilation fans, the fan discharge locations, the makeup air intake locations, and the location of any remote cutoff switches on the drawings. [Original comment: Show how the refrigeration penthouse complies with the ventilation requirements of Section 1105.6, IMC 2006.]
05/25/2012 ROBERT SHERRY PLUMBING-COMMERCIAL REVIEW Denied 1. Comment not resolved; unless the registration expired on 4/26/12, no expiration date has been added to the seals. Two dates are required with the seals, the date that the seal was signed, and the expiration date of the registration. [Original comment: Section R4-30-304 of the Rules of the Arizona State Board of Technical Registration, states that a notation shall be placed beneath the seal, either written, typed, or electronically generated, that provides the day, month, and year of the expiration of current registration. (Effective March 8, 2008).]
2. Comment not resolved; contact Mark Titus at Tucson Water (520-837-2248) for information regarding the installation of reduced pressure backflow preventers. [Original comment: Reduced pressure backflow prevention assemblies are required to be installed in locations accessible to Tucson Water, immediately downstream of the water meter. Reference: Chapter XXVII, Article V, Section 27-72, the Tucson Code, http://cms3.tucsonaz.gov/sites/default/files/water/docs/backflow-ordinance.pdf]
3. Provide a detail for the installation of the water heaters EWH-1 and EWH-2, showing the electrical disconnect, shut off valves, relief valves (including the size, route, and termination of the relief valve discharge), and the means for thermal expansion control. Reference: Sections 504.3, 504.4, 504.6, 606.2, and 607.3, IPC 2006. [Original comment: Clarify the specification for EWH-1; the model number in the schedule is not shown on the Eemax website and they don't appear to make any storage-type water heaters. Reference: Section 106.3.1, IPC 2006.]
4. Comment not resolved; both the fixture schedule (M-5.2) and the riser diagram (M-4.1) indicate an indirect waste connection for the emergency eyewash. [Original comment: Provide a direct waste connection for the eyewashes. Reference: Section 802.1, IPC 2006.]
5. Comment not resolved; Details 1/M-5.2 and 2/M-5.2 specifically call for 3" tail pieces for the floor drains and sinks. This will result in the trap and fixture branches being at least 4" in size. [Original comment: Clarify the size of the branch drains as shown on the combination waste and vent riser diagram; detail 1/M5.2 calls for the trap and branch line to be two pipe sizes larger than the fixture tail piece but the fixture branches are all shown as being 3" and the tail pieces of the floor drains, trenches, and floor sinks are all scheduled as being 3". Reference: Section 106.3.1, IPC 2006.]
6. The riser diagram for the CWV system and the plumbing plan still do not agree with respect to the fixtures connected to the CWV system (on the plans but not on the diagram) and to the size of the main lines. [Original comment: Coordinate the combination waste and vent riser diagram with the plumbing plan. The plumbing plan shows a 3" VTR for each of the three hub drains (labeled "HB" on the diagram?) located next to the freezer but no such vents are shown on the riser diagram. Also, on the plumbing plan, the fixture branch of the floor sink from the coffee station joins the 4" branch of the combination waste and vent system prior to joining with the 6" branch of the combination waste and vent system. Reference: Section 106.3.1, IPC 2006.]
7. The riser diagram and the plumbing plan are still not coordinated. For example, all of the plumbing fixtures in the restrooms would be located west of the pump room (outside of the building) if the riser diagram was correct. The floor cleanout noted in the initial comment is still missing. [Original comment: Coordinate the sanitary riser diagram with the plumbing plan; the north branch of the sanitary system shows an additional floor cleanout on the plumbing plan that is not included in the riser diagram. In addition, the location of the 6" branch, labeled "OPD" on the riser diagram is not shown on the plumbing plan. Reference: Section 106.3.1, IPC 2006.]

New Building, Reataurant Depot

Item # 2 concerning The City of Tucson Outdoor Lighting Code Ord # 10963, appears to use the older lighting code . The new one no longer list table 5 for options on total lumen output. The new new lists Table 401.1 as the current one in use and lumen allowances have changed.
Also this same ordinance requires any building mounted lighting to counted for lumen output, Sheet E1.1 shows
9- L1 type fixtures, 4 L type fixtures and 3 SL type fixtures
not included or mentioned in the count.
Please review and address this on resubmittal.
