| 07/09/2012 | ROBERT SHERRY | PLUMBING-COMMERCIAL | REVIEW | Denied | 1. Comment not resolved. The yard hydrant is the only fixture that requires backflow protection; the reduced pressure backflow preventer that requires access by Tucson Water is shown on the civil drawings, just downstream of the water meter (for accessibility issues with this backflow preventer, see Section 603.3.4, UPC 2006. The civil drawings that have been submitted to the City of Tucson do not show a location for the yard hydrant. [Original comment: Provide backflow protection for the freeze-proof yard hydrant located at grade and provide signage for the hydrant to indicate that the water is non-potable. Reference: Sections 601.2 and 602.3, UPC 2006.] 2. Comment not addressed. Note that scuppers act as weirs, not as horizontal pipes and the cross-sectional area of the scuppers has no bearing on their flow capacity. There are no gutters shown on the submitted drawings. [Original comment: Revise the size of the primary and overflow scuppers to comply with the requirements of Section 1101.11.2.1, UPC 2006. Refer also to Section 1106.4, UPC 2006.] 3. Comment not addressed. Clarify the plumbing code to be used for this activity. The Plumbing Notes on sheet M-2 refer to the 2006 UPC but the revised Building Code Analysis on sheet A-0 now refers to the 2006 IPC. The first two reviews of this activity have been made using the 2006 UPC. |
