06/25/2012 ROBERT SHERRY MECHANICAL-COMMERCIAL REVIEW Denied Provide the U-values for the three door types and include them in your envelope energy calculations; no "non-swinging door" is shown on the plans. The mechanical compliance certificate indicates that the air conditioning equipment is composed of field-assembled components but the specifications are for factory-assembled packaged A/C units. Revise the calculations as needed to correspond to the work shown on the drawings for this activity. [Original comment: Provide energy code compliance calculations for the building envelope; use the climate zone for Pima County < 4,000 feet. Provide sufficient detail on the drawings to evaluate the energy compliance of the building envelope. The information shall, as a minimum, include U-factors of the envelope systems and fenestration components, along with the R-values of the insulation and the SHGC for the fenestration. Reference: Sections 101.4 and 104.2, International Energy Conservation Code 2006.]
06/26/2012 ROBERT SHERRY PLUMBING-COMMERCIAL REVIEW Denied 1. Show an upper terminal cleanout at the water closet P-2 (the cleanout is indicated in the plumbing fixture schedule). Reference: Sections 707.4 and 707.11, UPC 2006.
2. Provide vent piping of sufficient size to comply with Section 904.1, UPC 2006.
3. Show the required minimum sizes for the rain gutter and the downspouts; provide a rain gutter for the north side of the building. Reference: Sections 1101.1, 1101.11.1, and 1106.3, UPC 2006.
4. Comment not addressed; no design has been provided and the drawing still specifies an obsolete grinder pump and sump assembly. Provide a design that specifies a pump and sump assembly that is currently listed, show the installation of the discharge check valve, full-way valve, sump vent, and control panel. Show how the plastic piping is to be protected from the elements. Show how the 2" discharge pipe (force main) is to connect to the 4" building sewer (gravity?) leading to the septic tank. Show the slope of the building sewer and provide cleanouts for the building sewer. In addition, it is not clear from the drawings that a gravity drain system cannot be employed without the use of a lift station; provide justification for the use of a lift station. Reference: Sections 103.2.3, 301.1.1, 310.4, 313.4, 709.0, 710.0, 718.0, and 719.0, UPC 2006. [Original comment: Provide a plumbing design for the installation of the lift station and the force main. (Note that the specified grinder pump and sump assembly has not been available since 2007.)]
