| 03/08/2012 | ERIC NEWCOMB | BUILDING-COMMERCIAL | REVIEW | Denied | 1. PREVIOUS COMMENT 1; SHEET A1.0 (FINISH NOTES); SHEET A3.0 (EAST LOOKING SECTION-SPA; WEST LOOKING SECTION-SPA; WEST LOOKING SECTION-SALON; EAST LOOKING SECTION-SALON; NORTH LOOKING SECTION-STATIONS; NORTH LOOKING SECTION-RECEPTION; DETAIL 1/A3.0): THE CITY OF TUCSON REQUIRES ALL LETTERING (UPPER AND LOWER CASE) TO BE A MINIMUM OF 3/32" IN HEIGHT. REVISE. 2. PREVIOUS COMMENT 3; SHEETA3.0; WEST BATHROOM: AN APPEAL TO RON BOOSE (BUILDING OFFICIAL) HAS BEEN SUBMITTED FOR THE WATER CLOSET CLEARANCE, SINCE THE CLEARANCE INDICATED ON THE DRAWINGS DOES NOT MEET ICC/ANSI A117.1-2003, FIGURE 604.3. 3. PREVIOUS COMMENT 4; SHEET A3.0; DETAIL 1: YOUR RESPONSE INDICATES THAT THE WALL HAS BEEN CHANGED TO A 6" METAL STUD WHICH WILL MEET THE LATERAL CRITERIA OF THE IBC SECTION 1607.13. CHANGE THE DETAIL TO INDICATE THE 6" METAL STUD (STILL SHOWS 3 5/8" STUD), AND PROVIDE A CALCULATION INDICATING THE IBC REQUIREMENT IS MET. 4. PREVIOUS COMMENT 5; GENERAL: UNDER THE CODES ENFORCED SECTION ON SHEET T-1, ADD THE ICC/ANSI A117.1-2003 ACCESSIBILITY CODE. 5. PREVIOUS COMMENT 8; SHEET A1.0; LAYOUT FLOOR PLAN: THE ELEVATION 1/T-1 ON SHEET T-4 INDICATES AN OPTION FOR A LOW DRINKING FOUNTAIN OR A SINGLE POINT OF USE WATER DISPENSER. THE ONLY OPTIONS CAN BE A HIGH/LOW DRINKING FOUNTAIN OR A SINGLE POINT OF USE WATER DISPENSER. REVISE. 6. PREVIOUS COMMENT 11; SHEET A1.0; LAYOUT FLOOR PLAN: NOTES CONCERNING THE RAMP HAVE BEEN ADDED TO THE PLAN, BUT ENLARGE THE LETTERING TO A MINIMUM OF 3/32". 7. GENERAL: PROVIDE WRITTEN RESPONSES TO ALL REVIEW COMMENTS. |
| 03/16/2012 | ROBERT SHERRY | MECHANICAL-COMMERCIAL | REVIEW | Denied | 1. Comment not resolved; mechanical plan 1/M-1 calls for 275 CFM of outside air to the existing A/C init but 425 CFM is specified for the same unit on sheet M-2. [Original comment: Clarify the balancing requirements for the existing AC unit (shown as "XXX CFM" OSA and 150 CFM RA on sheet M-1). Reference: Section 106.3.1, IMC 2006.] 2. Comment not resolved; do the specified exhaust fans require hinged curbs for duct cleaning (note #4)? [Original comment: Clarify the remarks used in the Packaged Rooftop Unit Schedule (e.g. missing remarks 9 through 14) and in the Exhaust Fan Schedule (e.g. note # 4?). Reference: Section 106.3.1, IMC 2006.] |
| 03/16/2012 | ROBERT SHERRY | PLUMBING-COMMERCIAL | REVIEW | Denied | 1. Comment not resolved; the architect has scheduled this sink as a single-bowl farm sink on sheet A1.0 and states that the intent is to use it as a service sink. A service sink is defined as having at least a 2" trap, not a 1-1/2" trap as scheduled on sheet P-3. [Original comment: Verify the description and the intended use of fixture P-8. It is scheduled as a 2-compartment prep sink but the architectural equipment list specifies a single-compartment sink. If it is to function as a prep sink, it will require an indirect waste connection per Section 801.2, UPC 2006.] 2. Comment not resolved; the submitted documents do not state that the foot spa chair has been listed by a recognized testing and listing agency as complying with ASME/ANSI A112.19.7M. In addition, the drawings do not indicate where the discharge of the required backflow preventers is to be introduced to the drainage system per Section 603.3.5, UPC 2006. [Original comment: Provide the listing and the installation information for the pedicure chairs (P-4). All foot spa units being connected to the building plumbing system shall be listed by a recognized testing and listing agency as complying with ASME/ANSI A112.19.7M, Whirlpool Bathtub Appliances. The units shall be directly connected to the waste system through a trap and vent per Sections 1001.1 and 1002.1, 2006 UPC. Each foot spa shall have separate backflow protection (both hot and cold water services require separate backflow protection). If water is supplied for spray attachments as well as tub filling, provide reduced pressure backflow protection assemblies. See http://cms3.tucsonaz.gov/files/dsd/FootSpa_Plumbing.pdf for further information regarding installation requirements.] 3. Comment not resolved; the submitted documents show that the faucets are listed but there is no information concerning the sink. With regard to the plumbing schedule, no backflow prevention devices are required for the faucets. [Original comment: Provide the listing and the installation information for the shampoo chairs (P-3). The units shall be directly connected to the waste system through a trap and vent per Sections 1001.1 and 1002.1, 2006 UPC. Reference: Sections 301.1.1 and 401.1, UPC 2006.] 4. A revision to sheet M-1 now shows a 4" flue for the water heater; indicate the height of the flue termination (i.e. 2'-0" higher than the adjacent wall), per Section 510.6.2, UPC 2006. |
