12/15/2011 ROBERT SHERRY MECHANICAL-COMMERCIAL REVIEW Denied 1. Comment not resolved; no structural details or calculations submitted. Provide structural calculations and details to show that the Type I hood is supported from the building structure in accordance with Section 507.6, IMC 2006. Reference: Section 302.1, IMC 2006.
2. Comment not resolved; detail 2/A-1 (C) shows a plywood substrate on the wall behind the hood. [Original comment: Detail 2/A-1 indicates that the partition adjacent to the proposed Type I hood may have wood furring. The zero-clearance exception in Section 507.9, IMC 2006 does not allow for the use of combustibles in the walls; Metal furring will be allowable.]

12/15/2011 ROBERT SHERRY PLUMBING-COMMERCIAL REVIEW Denied Comment not resolved. Table 11-2, UPC 2006 (horizontal rainwater pipes running full) is not appropriate for the design of a scupper; see Section 1101.11.2.1, UPC 2006 for instructions regarding the sizing of scuppers. [Original comment: Clarify the design of the primary roof drains. On the roof plan on sheet A-4 it appears as if a small scupper is used to reach the 4" downspout but detail 4/A-9 calls out a 10" wide primary scupper. The size of the primary and the emergency (overflow) scuppers should have equal capacities. Note that the calculations shown on sheet A-4 are incorrect; the roof drain sizes shown in Table 11-1 are the nominal pipe diameters required so the circumference of the roof drain is equal to the nominal pipe diameter times Pi. A scupper sized using the method shown in Section 1101.11.2.1, UPC 2006, for a 2" roof drain will be equal to 6.28" in width.]
12/22/2011 RONALD BROWN BUILDING-COMMERCIAL REVIEW Denied 1. There are problems with the architectural demolition and modified plans and coordination with the structural foundation and roof framing plans.
a. The building plan on SP-1 shows the front entry portion of the existing building is to remain and square footage calculation includes this area as existing.
b. The demolition site plan and floor plan and ceiling demolition plans on sheet D-1 shows the entry area and the roof framing to remain. Demolition notes refer to cutting back the existing awning only to allow for new addition.
b. The structural foundation and framing plans show this entire front entry to be entirely new construction including foundating, floor slabs and roof framing through.
c. Please coordinate with your structural engineer and revise the drawings so the scope of work will be the same.
d. Please revise the square footage calculations oto reflect any new definition of the size of the new construction and the existing construction to remain.
2. Please provide an accurate occupancy load as required by the 2006 IBC, Section 1004.
