| 11/17/2011 | ROBERT SHERRY | PLUMBING-COMMERCIAL | REVIEW | Denied | 1. The specified backflow preventer assembly, BP1, is a double check valve assembly, not a reduced pressure zone backflow assembly. It is suitable for your intended use but unlike the reduced pressure zone backflow assembly, it does not have a drain. If the backflow assemblies (BP1 and BP2) are located in a location remote from the appliance to which they are connected, provide a permanent label for each valve assembly per Section 603.3.2, UPC 2006. Each backflow assembly shall be installed with access and clearances per Section 603.3.4, UPC 2006. [Original comment: Specify the type of backflow prevention device required for the water connection to each appliance (note #1, sheet P1.2). Reference: Sections 602.3, 603.0, and Table 6-2, UPC 2006.] 2. Revise the size of the portion of the vents between the cleanout and the trap arm of the floor sinks to comply with the requirements of Table 7-6, UPC 2006 (i.e. a 3" drain line requires a minimum cleanout size of 2.5"). [Original comment: Show the size of the under-floor portion of the vents for the floor sinks located in the equipment room and in the sales floor area. The size of that portion of the vent shall comply with the cleanout size requirements of Table 7-6, UPC 2006. Reference: Section 707.11, UPC 2006.] 3. Comment not addressed; the specified hydromechanical grease interceptor requires an external flow control device which cannot be used with fixtures that are roughed-in at floor level, such as the mop sink. [Original comment: Each fixture that is connected to a hydromechanical grease interceptor requires a flow control device unless the grease interceptor is equipped with an integral flow control device. Reference: Section 1014.2.1, UPC 2006.] |
