01/20/2012 | ROBERT SHERRY | MECHANICAL-COMMERCIAL | REVIEW | Denied | 1. Correct the submitted calculations: the calculation of the term Z=(Voc/Vsc) used Vsc=1550 CFM for the air supply to the critical space but only 610 CFM is being supplied to the space identified as the beauty salon. [Original comments: Comment not addressed. Provide calculations to show that the common ventilation system is sized in accordance with Section 403.3.2, IMC 2006.] 2. The revision to the HVAC system (eliminating RTU-2) has also resulted in eliminating all ventilation to the utility room. The utility room requires a minimum of 0.15 CFM per square foot of outside air as well as a source of makeup air for the clothes dryer. Reference: Sections 401.2 and 504.5, IMC 2006. Note also that the total cooling capacity of the existing rooftop unit is about 40% less than the revised cooling load calculation. |
01/20/2012 | ROBERT SHERRY | PLUMBING-COMMERCIAL | REVIEW | Denied | Clarify the note on the revised water piping riser diagram that states, "CONN NEW ¾" CW & ½" HW TO EXIST MIN ¾" CW & ½" HW - VERIFY LOC, SIZE & ROUTING". Is this is note and the pipes it points to an artifact from a previous version of the diagram? [Previous comment: According to the water pressure calculations used for the shell building, the water piping for this building was based on a friction-loss budget of 5.0 PSI per 100 feet (including 15 PSI minimum pressure, and a developed length of 409 feet). Verify the available water service and revise the pipe sizes accordingly. Note that the water velocity for cold water in copper tubing is 8 feet per second and the water velocity for hot water in copper tubing is 5 feet per second.
