10/17/2011 ROBERT SHERRY MECHANICAL-COMMERCIAL REVIEW Denied 1. Clarify the natural gas input to furnace types FUR-1 and FUR-2; the mechanical schedule indicates 44 MBH but the plumbing schedule shows 44.5 MBH. Reference: Section 106.3.1, IMC 2006.
2. Show how the design of the cooling coils complies with Section 307.2.3 IMC 2006 with respect to secondary drain systems for the condensate.
3. Verify that the doors for the clothes dryer locations comply with Section 504.5, IMC 2006 for make-up air.
4. Provide access for the condensate drain terminating with a direct connection to a bathtub overflow. Reference: Section 807.2, UPC 2006.
5. Provide clarification of the gas flues for the water heaters and furnaces. The keynotes (i.e. #2 and #21) on sheet M101 appear to relate only to the common flues from the first floor up to the second floor and not from the second floor to the roof. Reference: Section 106.3.1, IFGC 2006.
6. Provide the total flue heights for both installation types (74.MBH and 96 MBH) on both floors. Show that the flue sizes meet the requirements of Section 504.3, IFGC 2006.
10/17/2011 ROBERT SHERRY PLUMBING-COMMERCIAL REVIEW Denied 1. The architectural plans specify the installation of a pressure-assisted water closet. Revise the water pressure calculations as required to account for the minimum water pressure requirement of the specified water closet. Reference: Section 608.1, UPC 2006.
2. Specify how sterilization of the domestic water piping (e.g. PEX) will be accomplished per Section 609.9, UPC 2006.
3. Provide pressure-absorbing devices for the water connections to appliances equipped with quick-acting or solenoid valves. Reference: Section 609.10, UPC 2006.
4. Verify the sizes of the PEX water distribution lines, as shown on the drawings, will not result in pressure drops greater than indicated in the water pressure calculations. Reference: Section A 5, UPC 2006.
5. Provide the rim elevation of the next upstream sanitary manhole or cleanout and the first floor elevation of the apartment building. Determine the need for a backwater valve per Section 710.1, UPC 2006, as amended by the City of Tucson.
6. Revise the gas piping sizes for apartment numbers 3, 8, 9, and 10; based on the mechanical design, these apartments have a total gas demand of 179 MBH, not 157 MBH. Reference: Section 1217.3, UPC 2006 and Section 402, IFGC 2006.
7. Verify the total gas demand for the apartments equipped with furnaces FUR-1 or FUR-2. If the units do have an input of 44.5 MBH, the main gas pipe is undersized. Reference: Section 1217.3, UPC 2006 and Section 402, IFGC 2006.
