10/03/2011 | ROBERT SHERRY | MECHANICAL-COMMERCIAL | REVIEW | Denied | 1. Show the size, routing, and termination of the condensate drains for the new roof top A/C units. Reference: Section 307.2, IMC 2006 as amended by the City of Tucson and Section 814.0, UPC 2006. 2. Section 403.3, IMC 2006, as amended by the City of Tucson allows the use of the ASHRAE 62-1-2004 ventilation calculation procedure provided that the default occupant densities and combined outdoor air rates are used. Reference: ASHRAE Standard 62.1-2004, and Section 403.3, IMC 2006 as modified by the City of Tucson amendments. 3. Specify the minimum resistance (R-value) of the duct insulation to be used on this project. Reference: Section 503.2.7, IECC 2006, as amended by the City of Tucson. |
10/03/2011 | ROBERT SHERRY | PLUMBING-COMMERCIAL | REVIEW | Denied | 1. Appliances (e.g. chemical dispensers) to be directly connected to the water supply system that do not have listed, integral backflow preventers or integral air gaps conforming to Table 6-3, UPC 2006 require backflow prevention. Specify the type of backflow prevention device required for each water connection. Reference: Sections 602.3, 603.0, and Table 6-2, UPC 2006. 2. Provide a reduced-pressure-principle backflow prevention assembly for the misting system. Reference: Section 603.4.6.2, UPC 2006. 3. Provide pressure-absorbing devices for the water connections to appliances equipped with quick-acting or solenoid valves. Reference: Section 609.10, UPC 2006. 4. The minimum residual water pressure is 15 PSI. Note that some water closets and some appliances (e.g. ovens, water closets, etc.) require minimum residual pressures greater than 15 PSI. Reference: Section 608.1, UPC 2006. 5. Clarify how the water fixture units have been calculated. If Table 6-5, UPC 2006 has been used, correct the water fixture units for the urinal (20 fixture units per Table 6-7, UPC 2006). If, however, Appendix A, UPC 2006 is being used, reduce the water fixture units for the water closets to 8 fixture units each and use curve 1 on Chart A-3 to determine the water demand. Reference: Sections 610.5 and 610.10, UPC 2006. 6. The domestic water isometric diagram (2/P-3.1) appears to show the water closets served by 1" copper tubing. A flush valve delivers 1.6 gallons in about four seconds which is approximately 24 GPM. This results in a water velocity of 9.3 feet per second in 1" Type L copper. Limit the water velocity to less than 8 FPS for the copper piping. Reference: Sections 610.12 and A 6.1, UPC 2006 and IS 3-2003, Section 2.6. 7. Clarify the location of the proposed new water meter and backflow preventer; Chapter XXVII, Article V, Section 27-72, of the Tucson Code, requires a reduced pressure backflow preventer to be located immediately after the water meter and they are required to be installed in locations accessible to Tucson Water. 8. Provide upper terminal cleanouts on horizontal drainage pipes exceeding 5 feet in length. Reference: Section 707.4, UPC 2006. 9. Show that the floor drains used as indirect receptors for condensate, appliance drains, and T&P relief for the water heater are designed to prevent splashing. Reference: Section 804.1, UPC 2006. 10. Provide protection of the trap seals for all floor drains subject to infrequent use. Reference: Sections 1007.0 and 1007.1, UPC 2006, as amended by the City of Tucson. |
