07/22/2011 ROBERT SHERRY PLUMBING-COMMERCIAL REVIEW Denied 1. Clarify which plumbing code is being used for this activity; the title sheet indicates the 2006 IPC but portions of the plumbing design refer to the 2006 UPC. This review has been made using the 2006 IPC.
2. Revise and coordinate the pipe insulation specification for recirculating service hot water with Section 504.5, IECC 2006. The plumbing specifications on sheet P0.1 is in conflict with the code requirements.
3. The water heater detail on sheet P0.1 indicates the presence of a recirculating hot water system but the plumbing plans do not show any return hot water pipe; clarify. Reference: Sections 106.3.1 and 607.2, IPC 2006.
4. Revise the piping configuration of the water heater detail on sheet P0.1 to show the hot water return piping routed to the cold water inlet pipe of the water heater. Reference: Section 607.2.3, IPC 2006.
5. Provide a design for the mounting shelf for the water heater along with structural calculations to show that the water heater is safely supported. Reference: Section 307.1, IPC 2006.
6. Show how the specified water heater, WH-1, complies with the requirements of Section 504, IPC 2006.
7. Provide a drip pan and drain for WH-1 per Section 504.7, IPC 2006.
8. If the 2-compartment kitchen sink is to be utilized for food handling (i.e. a prep sink), provide indirect waste piping. Reference: Sections 801.1, 802.1 and 802.2, IPC 2006.
9. Provide a direct waste connection for the wash and rinse sections of the 3-compartment sink, with an indirect connection for the sanitizing compartment only. Reference: Sections 301.3, 801.1, 802.1, and 802.2, IPC 2006.
10. Verify with the Pima County Regional Wastewater Reclamation Department (contact: Doug Kirkland, 520- 443-6202) whether or not a grease interceptor is required. Reference: Sections 106.3.1 and 1003.1, IPC 2006.
07/22/2011 ROBERT SHERRY MECHANICAL-COMMERCIAL REVIEW Denied 1. Provide structural calculations to verify that the existing roof is capable of supporting the additional dead load due to the installation of the roof top unit AC-1. Reference: Section 302.1, IMC 2006.
2. The 2006 International Mechanical Code with Local Amendments is the relevant code for this project; the 2009 IMC has not been adopted at this time. Section 403.3, IMC 2006, as amended by the City of Tucson allows the use of the ASHRAE 62-1-2004 ventilation calculation procedure provided that the default occupant densities and combined outdoor air rates are used.
3. Show how the new condensate drain for AC-1 is to be connected to the existing condensate drain system without overloading the existing condensate drain system and in accordance with Section 307.2.1, IMC 2006, as amended by the City of Tucson.
