08/25/2011 ROBERT SHERRY MECHANICAL-COMMERCIAL REVIEW Denied 1. Comment not resolved. The specified supply diffuser projects an air jet for four-feet with a terminal velocity of 150 feet per minute. As this air stream is deflected down the front of the hood, it can reduce the capture and containment performance of the hood by drawing smoke and contaminants out of the hood. Reference: Section 507.16.1, IMC 2006. [Original comment: The listing information for the specified Type I and Type II hoods indicates the high velocity supply diffusers are not to be located within ten feet of the hoods but hoods 3, 4, and 5 all have supply diffusers within two feet of them; explain how this installation conforms to the manufacturer's listing. Reference: Section 304.1, IMC 2006.]
2. Comment not resolved. The size of the combined grease duct has been increased to 28" x 26" which will result in a decrease in the duct velocity to 1341 feet per minute. [Original comment: Revise the size of the combined grease duct serving EF-1 to provide a minimum velocity of 1500 feet per minute. Reference: Section 506.3.4, IMC 2006, as amended by the City of Tucson.]
3. Comment not resolved; show the hanging details on the construction drawings. [Original comment: Provide structural calculations and details to show that the Type I and Type II hoods are supported from the building structure in accordance with Section 507.6, IMC 2006. Reference: Section 302.1, IMC 2006.]
08/25/2011 ROBERT SHERRY WATER REVIEW Approved
08/26/2011 ROBERT SHERRY PLUMBING-COMMERCIAL REVIEW Denied 1. Comment not resolved. Provide cleanouts sized per Section 708.7, IPC 2006 (e.g. a 3" cleanout is required for a 3" pipe - see room 108). In addition, provide cleanouts for the island-vented sink per Section 913.3, IPC 2006. [Original comment: Provide cleanouts for the sanitary and grease-laden waste systems per Section 708.0, IPC 2006.]
2. Coordinate the gas piping data shown on sheet P3.0 with sheet P6.0. [Original comment: Coordinate the natural gas inputs for the rooftop units and the kitchen appliances as shown on the mechanical and equipment drawings with the plumbing plans. The input values (loads) shown on sheet P6.0 do not appear to have any relationship with those shown on the mechanical schedule on sheet M2.0 or the equipment schedule on sheet A2.8. (The heating value for natural gas in this area is approximately 1,000 BTU per cubic foot.) Reference: Sections 106.3.1 and 402.2, IFGC 2006.]
3. Clarify the equivalent pipe lengths used to size the natural gas piping. The note on sheet P3.0 indicates that the gas meter is approximately 150-feet from the tenant space but the equivalent pipe lengths shown on sheets P3.0 and P6.0 do not appear to include this length. In addition, the "total linear feet" values, shown in the Gas Notes on sheet P6.0 do not agree with even the horizontal pipe lengths shown on sheets P2.0 and P3.0. Provide the equivalent hydraulic diameter of the CSST tubing used to serve the main grill and provide the total pressure drop from the meter to the inlet of the main grill. (Note: show the locations for the automatic fuel shut off valve for the Type I hoods required by Section 904.11.2, IFC 2006.) [Original comment: Provide calculation to show how the size of the natural gas piping has been determined. Include the equivalent length of pipe from each appliance termination to the utility meter. The size of the section of CSST serving the large grill will have to be calculated based on the manufacturer's sizing tables. Reference: Section 402.3, IFGC 2006.]
4. Revise the size of the 2" horizontal branch drain in room 117 to 3". Reference: Section 704.2, IPC 2006.
