The applicant is requesting the following sign variance:

To exceed the allowable 71.8 square feet of signage for the auto dealership located at the southeast corner of 22nd St. and Wilmot Road by 12.77 square feet, for a total of 84.57 square feet of signage.

The General Plan, Element 4, policy 5.6 states that developers should provide site design elements, includes signs, which are compatible with the overall neighborhood character. In addition, the Design Guidelines Manual states that signage should improve the aesthetic appearance. As such, the General Plan does not oppose the proposed 14.62 square-feet sign addition, which is to be integrated with the existing 69.95 square -feet sign mounted on a low wall fronting the southeast corner of 22nd Street and Wilmot Road intersection.
