03/28/2011 | DAVE MANN | FIRE | REVIEW | Denied | Fire Comments: Sheet ST1 Please indicate existing fire hydrant location(s), with dimensions to buildings and/or property lines. Refer to City of Tucson amendments to the 2006 International Fire Code (section 508) for spacing and location requirements. Fire Comments: Sheet E-2 There is an exit sign going into "sales support". Storage rooms cannot be used as exits. See IFC 1014. |
03/29/2011 | ROBERT SHERRY | PLUMBING-COMMERCIAL | REVIEW | Denied | 1. The static pressure for the building is in excess of 80 PSI; provide an approved water pressure regulator preceded by a strainer and show the location on the drawings. Reference: Section 608.2, UPC 2006. [Provide water pressure and water pipe sizing calculations. Reference: Section 610.1, UPC 2006.] 2. The revised drawings show two 3" waste lines connecting and a short section of 4" waste continues to the building drain. As drawn, that short section of 4" pipe would require a properly-sized cleanout of at least 3-1/2". If the short section of 4" pipe is changed to 3" (there are only 16 drainage fixture units involved and a 3" pipe can accommodate up to 35 drainage fixture units), no additional cleanouts are required. [Provide cleanouts sized per Section 707.11, UPC 2006 (i.e. a 4" drain requires at least a 3-1/2" cleanout).] 3. The rainwater leaders (downspouts) shown on sheet A2 have been revised to connect directly to an underground storm drain system. Provide cleanouts at the base of each leader prior to the connection to the horizontal drain. |
03/29/2011 | ROBERT SHERRY | WATER | REVIEW | Denied | The Civil Site Plan, C3, dated 03/02/11 shows two water meters and one backflow preventer. The domestic water meter is shown as 1", the irrigation meter is shown as 5/8", and the single backflow preventer is 1" in size. Based on the sizes shown, I assume that the backflow preventer is for the domestic water service. Provide backflow protection to isolate the irrigation system from the City of Tucson water supply. Reference Chapter 27, Article V, Section 27-75 (a) (17), Tucson Code, http://www.tucsonaz.gov/water/docs/backflow-ord.pdf [Revise the site drawing to show the location and size of both the water meter and the reduced pressure backflow preventer assembly. Reference: Section 103.2.3, UPC 2006.] |
03/29/2011 | ROBERT SHERRY | MECHANICAL-COMMERCIAL | REVIEW | Denied | Comment not resolved. The envelope energy calculations shown on sheet ST1 are based on the town of Pima, located in Graham County, Arizona, not on Pima County <4,000 feet elevation. In addition, the insulation note on sheet A3 still calls for R-19 roof insulation rather than the R-30 roof insulation noted in the calculations. [Provide energy code compliance calculations using the correct climate zone for Pima County < 4,000 feet. Provide sufficient detail on the drawings to evaluate the energy compliance of the building envelope. The information shall, as a minimum, include U-factors of the envelope systems and fenestration components, along with the R-values of the insulation and the SHGC for the fenestration. (The insulation note on sheet A3 has different R-values for the roof than the submitted calculations.) Reference: Sections 101.4 and 104.2, International Energy Conservation Code 2006.] |
