| 12/23/2010 | ROBERT SHERRY | PLUMBING-COMMERCIAL | REVIEW | Denied | 1. Coordinate the gas piping riser diagram with the gas piping shown on the mechanical piping plan (sheet M1.4) for pipe sizes and location of the automatic gas shut-off valves. The mechanical piping plan shows undersized pipes serving the fryers (3-VAT) and RTU-2. The gas piping riser diagram shows three automatic gas shut-off valves but the mechanical piping plan shows only one valve. Correct the addition on the mechanical piping plan for the natural gas loading. Reference: Section 103.2.3, UPC 2006. 2. Revise the font size used on the gas piping riser diagram to a minimum of 3/32-inch (all upper case). Reference: Section 106.1.1, IBC 2006. 3. Correct the size of the natural gas pipe shown in detail 6/P3.0. Reference: Section 103.2.3, UPC 2006. 4. Appliances (e.g. steamers, ice makers, coffee makers, etc) to be directly connected to the water supply system that do not have listed, integral backflow preventers or integral air gaps conforming to Table 6-3, UPC 2006 require backflow prevention. Specify the type of backflow prevention device required for each water connection. Each piece of equipment requiring backflow protection shall be independently protected. Reference: Sections 602.2 and 603.0, UPC 2006, as amended by the City of Tucson. 5. Provide water pressure and water pipe sizing calculations. Reference: Section 610.1, UPC 2006. 6. Revise the schedule, Waste Pipe Sizing - UPC, coordinate with the plumbing plans (e.g. show the correct number fixtures) and to account for plumbing fixture values for assembly occupancy (e.g. water closets and urinals) as shown in table 7-3, UPC 2006. Reference: Section 703.1, UPC 2006. 7. Verify that the size of the floor drains and floor sinks have not been oversized to the point that their traps are no longer self-scouring. Reference: Section 703.1 and footnotes 1 and 7, Table 7-3, UPC 2006. 8. Provide upper terminal cleanouts on horizontal drainage pipes exceeding 5 feet in length (horizontal drain lines serving sinks and urinals require cleanouts regardless of length). Reference: Section 707.4, UPC 2006. 9. Provide cleanouts sized per Section 707.11, UPC 2006. 10. Revise the slope of the horizontal drainage piping to comply with the requirements of Section 708.0, UPC 2006 (see #3 and #10, Sanitary and Vent Systems, General Plumbing Notes). 11. Modify trap arm lengths to conform to Table 10-1, UPC 2006 (see FS-2 located by ice machine 39.03). Reference: Section 1002.2, UPC 2006. 12. Provide protection of the trap seals for all floor drains subject to infrequent use as noted in General Plumbing Notes, Sanitary and Vent Systems, #14 on sheet P4.0. Proset trap guards are not approved for use in this jurisdiction. Reference: Sections 1007.0 and 1007.1, UPC 2006, as amended by the City of Tucson. 13. Provide listing information to show that the specified gravity grease interceptor (Green Turtle 1500 (2)) complies with the requirements of Section 1014.3.3.1, UPC 2006. Note that the proposed gravity grease interceptor has a 6" inlet and outlet but the site plan indicates a 4" building sewer downstream of the interceptor. 14. The roof drain sizing shall be based on a storm of 60-minutes duration and a 100-year return period, i.e. 3" per hour. Reference: Section 1101.11.1 and Table 11-1, UPC 2006. 15. Provide the sizing information for the gutters and downspouts for the barrel vault roof (i.e. show the dimensions on the plans). Reference: Section 1106.0, UPC 2006. |
| 12/27/2010 | ROBERT SHERRY | MECHANICAL-COMMERCIAL | REVIEW | Denied | 1. Revise the size of the condensate drain for RTU-2; it starts out as 1" on sheet M1.0 and then reduces to ¾" on sheet M1.4. Reference: Section 307.2.2, IMC 2006, as amended by the City of Tucson. 2. Section 403.3, IMC 2006, as amended by the City of Tucson allows the use of the ASHRAE 62-1-2004 ventilation calculation procedure provided that the default occupant densities and combined outdoor air rates are used. Revise the calculations for RTU-3 and RTU-4 using the default occupant densities. Reference: Section 401.2, IMC 2006. 3. The submitted structural calculations do not appear to have included the support of the hoods. In addition, detail 2/S2.1 is inadequate to show how the Type I hoods are supported from the building structure. Detail 4/S1.1 applies only to the wall supporting KH-2, not for the wall supporting KH-1 and KH-3 (that wall is also shown as a 4-1/2" wall on sheet A1-0, not a 6" wall as shown in detail S2.1) Reference: Sections 302.1 and 507.6, IMC 2006. 4. Clarify how the walls supporting the hoods contain only non-combustible supports. Detail 8/M3.0 calls for 2"x10" blocking behind the hoods. Reference: Section 507.9, IMC 2006. |
