12/14/2010 ROBERT SHERRY PLUMBING-COMMERCIAL REVIEW Denied 1. Provide material standards for all plumbing fixtures being provided by others. All plumbing fixtures and fittings shall be listed or labeled by a nationally-recognized, accredited conformity assessment company (e.g. UL, ETL, UPC, etc). Reference: Sections 301.1.1 and 401.1, UPC 2006.
2. Clarify the specified dishwasher; an "AutoChlor A5" is a chlorination control system for salt-water swimming pools but an "Auto-Chlor A5" is a chemical dishwasher. In addition, if the dishwasher is not designed for installation under a counter, it will require the installation of a Type II hood. Reference: Section 103.2.3, UPC 2006 and Section 507.2.2, IMC 2006.
3. Verify that the floor sink (P7) shown located under the dishwasher (P5) is readily accessible for cleaning and inspection. Reference: Section 804.1, UPC 2006.
4. Verify the specified mop sink, P6. The current version of the specified model (Fiat FLTD) is wider than the closet in which it is shown. The minimum trap size for a service sink is 2" per Table 7-3, UPC 2006.
5. Appliances (e.g. soda dispensers, ice machines, etc) to be directly connected to the water supply system that do not have listed, integral backflow preventers or integral air gaps conforming to Table 6-3, UPC 2006 require backflow prevention. Specify the type of backflow prevention device required for each water connection. Reference: Sections 602.3, 603.0, and Table 6-2, UPC 2006.
6. Provide a floor drain in the kitchen. Reference: Sections 411.2.2 and 704.3, UPC 2006.
7. Clarify the proposed termination (see keynote 13, P1.0) for the P&T relief for the existing water heater. Reference: Section 608.5, UPC 2006.
8. Provide indirect waste piping for the prep sink. Reference: Section 801.2, UPC 2006.
9. Provide a trap (without a vent) for the indirect waste piping for the sanitizing compartment of the 3-compartment sink. Reference: Section 803.0, UPC 2006.
10. Provide listing information for G.I.-1, the hydromechanical grease interceptor Reference: Sections 103.2.3 and 1014.0, UPC 2006. Note that unless the specified unit has an integral flow control device, it will be impossible to connect a floor sink to the interceptor. Reference: Section 1014.2.1, UPC 2006.
11. Provide a downstream vent for each interceptor. Reference: Section 1009.4, UPC 2006.
12. Provide listing information for the gravity grease interceptor and verify that the unit has been sized per Table 10-3, UPC 2006. Reference: Section 1014.3.6.1, UPC 2006.
13. Clarify the need for a vented flow control device for a gravity grease interceptor (detail 1/P1.0). Unless the manufacturer of the interceptor requires one, a flow control device in this application would be an obstruction to flow. (In addition, no system vent shall be located between a flow control device and a grease interceptor. Reference: Section 1014.2.1, UPC 2006.) Reference: Sections 311.5 and 1014.3.3.1, UPC 2006.
14. Clarify the configuration of the waste piping shown in the portion of detail 1/P1.0 that includes G.I.1; it appears to show three sinks draining into the vent (wet-vent) of a floor sink (P7). Reference: Sections 103.2.3 and 908, UPC 2006.
15. Revise the natural gas pipe sizes per Section 1217.1, UPC 2006 or provide calculations demonstrating conformance to Section 1217.3, UPC 2006.
16. Provide an automatic fuel shutoff valve for the gas-fired appliances located under the type I hood. Reference: Section 904.11.2, IFC 2006.
