| 11/16/2010 | ROBERT SHERRY | PLUMBING-COMMERCIAL | REVIEW | Denied | 1. The applicable code for all commercial plumbing projects is the 2006 Uniform Plumbing Code with Local Amendments. The plumbing sheets indicate that the activity has been designed per the 2006 UPC but the architectural sheet, T-1 is referencing the 2006 IPC. Provide an approved appeal to the building official if the plans are to be reviewed to the 2006 IPC. 2. Appliances (e.g. ovens, coffee brewers, etc) to be directly connected to the water supply system that do not have listed, integral backflow preventers or integral air gaps conforming to Table 6-3, UPC 2006 require backflow prevention. Specify the type of backflow prevention device required for each water connection. Reference: Sections 602.3, 603.0, and Table 6-2, UPC 2006. 3. Coordinate the size of the water meter serving the building; the civil drawings indicate a 1-1/2" meter compared to the 1" meter referenced on the plumbing plans. Reference: Section 103.2.3, UPC 2006. 4. Provide size information for the roof scuppers, downspouts, and overflow scuppers (referenced detail 8/A-9 is not shown). Reference: Section 1101.11, UPC 2006. 5. Coordinate with the architectural drawings. The architectural backgrounds are different (A-1), the water heater does not need a flue (A-4), and the "optional floor drain" (3/A-3) is not on the plumbing sheets. Reference: Section 103.2.3, UPC 2006. |
| 11/16/2010 | ROBERT SHERRY | MECHANICAL-COMMERCIAL | REVIEW | Denied | 1. Clarify the need for providing a flue for an electric water heater. Reference: Section 106.3.1, IMC 2006. 2. Provide energy code compliance calculations (using Pima County < 4,000 feet). Provide sufficient detail on the drawings to evaluate the energy compliance of the building envelope. The information shall, as a minimum, include U-factors of the envelope systems and fenestration components, along with the R-values of the insulation and the SHGC for the fenestration. Reference: Sections 101.4 and 104.2, International Energy Conservation Code 2006. 3. Specify the construction of the exhaust duct for KH-1. Reference: Section 506.4, IMC 2006. 4. Provide structural calculations and details to show that the Type II hood is supported from the building structure in accordance with Section 507.6, IMC 2006. Reference: Section 302.1, IMC 2006. 5. The required exhaust rate for a Type II hood used for cooking operations is determined by the exhaust rate for the light-duty appliances under a Type I hood. Reference: Section 507.13.4, IMC 2006. |
