08/10/2010 KEN VAN KARSEN BUILDING-RESIDENTIAL REVIEW Denied PLAN REVIEW COMMENTS T10CM02192
Plan review for the above referenced structure has been completed. This letter reflects comments to be addressed. In order to facilitate a shorter back check time, we request that you please provide revised plans and calculations, highlighting any changes, along with a written response to each of the noted items indicating action taken.

SCOPE OF REVIEW:
The scope of this plan review covers architectural, plumbing, mechanical, energy conservation and electrical. All code references are to the 2006 International Residential Code, 2005 National Electrical Code and Arizona Revised Statutes. All features were checked only to the extent allowed by the submittals provided. All portions of this project are assumed to meet or will meet other departmental requirements, conditions and concerns before permit approval.

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:
All corrections and revisions shall be made on original tracings or a finished reproducible set. Return two sets along with a set of the first submission for reference. Pen or pencil corrections on final prints will not be acceptable. To avoid delays, ensure that all corrections have been made, are complete, and have been coordinated on all applicable detail and note sheets. (Do not cloud the changes made for comment revisions). Incorporate changes on originals and provide two copied sets for review.

All engineers and architects involved in the design of the structure are to seal the related sheets of plans, details and calculations in accordance with the rules of the State Board of Technical Registration.

GENERAL NOTES:
" Provide ΒΌ" = 1' scaled drawings with legible notation (minimum 3/32" lettering). Include full size copies with enlarged notation.
" Provide consecutive sheet numbers on each construction drawing, R106.1.1. Include a full set of electrical plans.
" Provide a system layout plan showing the location of system components in relation to structures and utilities. Include service panel and inverter on the layout plan.
" Provide a line diagram identifying each component and circuit notating sizes and installation details.
" Provide manufacturer specification sheets for collector panels, inverter and mounting hardware.
DIAGRAMS / CALCULATIONS
1. Maximum Photovoltaic System Voltage (Voc x 1.13) NEC 690.7 and Table 690.7 (16 degrees F). Show an inverter with appropriate specifications for this calculation.
2. DC Overcurrent Protective Device and Conductor Sizing for Photovoltaic Source Circuits and Module Interconnection Conductors (Isc x 1.25 x 1.25) Reference NEC 690.8 (A) (1) and (B) (1). Show a complete calculation for determining conductor requirements.
3. AC Overcurrent Protective Device and Conductor Sizing for Photovoltaic Source Circuits and Module Interconnection Conductors (Imax x 1.25) Reference NEC 690.8 (A) (3) and (B) (1). Show a complete calculation for determining conductor requirements.
4. Inverter Input Current (Isc x 1.25) Reference NEC 690.8 (A) (4). Show an inverter with DC max input rating consistent with total photovoltaic output capacity.
5. Maximum conductor ampacity is determined by applying correction and adjustment factors for temperature of insulation rating of 90C and CCC proximity (I x 0.82 x .8 {if 4-6}) Reference NEC 310.15. The adjusted conductor rating may not be less than the calculated Conductor Sizing.
6. Overcurrent protection may not exceed 15A for #14, 20A for #12 or 30A for #10 rating required by NEC 240.4 (D).
7. Show Temperature Derating for Conductors (NEC Table 310.16).
8. Show a DC grounding electrode conductor size equal to the DC supply conductors and not smaller than #8 (copper), NEC 250.166 (B) & 690.47(C)(2). Show this conductor size between the inverter and the service ground.
9. Show the equipment grounding conductor size as required by Table 250.122, (#14 for 15A, #12 for 20A & #10 for 30 or 40 or 60A).
10. Specify and show a continuous Grounding Electrode Conductor.
(Reference NEC 250.64 (C), 250.160.
NOTES / SPECIFICATIONS
1. Provide the exact wording and location for the "Photovoltaic System Disconnect" marking required by NEC 690.14 (C) (2).
2. Provide the exact wording and location for the Warning Sign required by NEC 690.17.
3. Provide the exact wording and location for the DC Power Source "Imp, Vmp, Vmax, Isc" marking required by NEC 690.53.
4. Provide the exact wording and locations for any plaques which may be required for any non co-located disconnects by NEC 690.56 (B).
5. Provide the location for the "backfed" circuit breaker in compliance with NEC 690.64 (B) (5).
6. Specify that the module interconnection (MC) connectors shall be marked for positive and negative polarity. Reference NEC 690.33 (A).
7. Specify that the module interconnection connectors are capable of interrupting the circuit current without danger to the operator, or marked: "Do Not Open Under Load." (Reference NEC 690.33 (E) and Handbook commentary.)
8. Specify that all equipment shall be listed by an Independent Testing Agency.

09/07/2010 ERIC NEWCOMB BUILDING-COMMERCIAL REVIEW Denied 1. SHEET S1 (SECTIONS A AND B); STRUCTURAL CALCULATIONS (SHEET 6): THE DRAWINGS INDICATE AN 8" DIAMETER X 1/4" TUBE STEEL IN THE MIDDLE PORTION OF THE SUPPORT COLUMN. WHERE DOES THIS SHOW UP IN THE CALCULATIONS? THE CALCULATIONS REFERENCE A 6X6X3/16 TUBE (M2) IN THE MIDDLE PORTION, THEN A 4X4X3/16 TUBE AT THE TOP. COORDINATE THE DRAWINGS WITH THE CALCULATIONS.
2. GENERAL: PROVIDE LARGER DRAWING TO MAKE VERBIAGE MEET THE CITY OF TUCSON STANDARDS (MINIMUM 3/32" IN HEIGHT).
3. GENERAL: PROVIDE WRITTEN RESPONSES TO ALL REVIEW COMMENTS.
