09/07/2010 ROBERT SHERRY MECHANICAL-COMMERCIAL REVIEW Denied 1. The City of Pima is located northwest of Safford, Arizona and is in climate zone 3b; Pima County (<4,000 feet) is in climate zone 2b. Provide energy code compliance calculations (Pima County < 4,000 feet). The information on the drawings shall match the information used to calculate the energy compliance of the building envelope. Provide documentation of the "other" roof types used in the energy calculations. Note also that the City of Tucson has not adopted the 2009 IECC. Reference: Sections 101.4 and 104.2, International Energy Conservation Code 2006.
2. Revise the ventilation calculations to show that the common ventilation system is sized in accordance with Section 403.3.2, IMC 2006. Clarify how room 108, which is supplied with only 50 CFM of total air circulation, is being supplied with 60 CFM of outside air. In addition, the plans show a total air circulation of 2,085 CFM from AC-1, which is supposed to be supplying only 1,975 CFM.
09/07/2010 ROBERT SHERRY PLUMBING-COMMERCIAL REVIEW Denied 1. An approved 2-way cleanout fitting is a single fitting, not a field-assembled group of individual fittings. The ASTM standards for 2-way cleanouts only list 3" and 4" sizes, all in hubless cast iron. The new 1-1/2" 2-way cleanout located together near the northwest corner of the building does not appear to be an approved, listed fitting. If you wish to have a cleanout for the 2" building drain at that location, a 1-way cleanout may be installed but a 2-way cleanout is unnecessary. Reference: Sections 707.4 and 707.11, UPC 2006.
2. The UPC requires scuppers to be at least equal in width to the circumference of the nominal roof drain size required by Table 11-1, UPC 2006. The overflow shown on the scupper collector box (5" diameter) is required to have the same capacity as the required roof drain. As an example, the required roof drain for a roof area of up to 725 square feet in Tucson is 2"; the minimum scupper width would thus be 6.28". The minimum scupper height is 4". Revise the size of the provided collector box overflows to comply with the requirements of Section 1101.11.2.1, UPC 2006.
