07/07/2010 ROBERT SHERRY MECHANICAL-COMMERCIAL REVIEW Denied 1. Comment not resolved. Provide a grease drain and collection reservoir for the pizza exhaust fan. The notes for the pizza hood and exhaust fan refer to detail 112; did you mean to reference detail 101, which shows a grease reservoir for a grease exhaust fan? (Note that EF-1, EF-2, and EF-3 all reference detail 112 "on the roof".) Reference: Section 506.5.2, IMC 2006.
2. The pizza oven exhaust fan, EF-7, is specified with an exhaust volume of 1030 CFM and a grease duct that is 10"x 10". This results in a duct velocity of 1483 FPM, not the required minimum velocity of 1500 FPM. Reference: Sections 106.3.1 and 506.3.4, IMC 2006 as amended by the City of Tucson.
07/08/2010 ROBERT SHERRY PLUMBING-COMMERCIAL REVIEW Denied 1. Provide backflow protection for equipment #008. Verify that appliance #084 (coffee maker) has a listed, integral backflow preventer or an integral air gap conforming to Table 6-3, UPC 2006. Specify the type of backflow prevention device required for each water connection. Reference: Sections 602.3, 603.0, and Table 6-2, UPC 2006.
2. Revise the hot water pressure calculations to include the required residual water pressure and the static lift. Limit the water velocity to no more than 5 FPS. Reference: Sections 610.2, 610.7, and 610.12.1, UPC 2006.
3. Comment not resolved. The flush valve for a urinal delivers one gallon of water in a period of approximately four seconds for a nominal flow of 15 GPM resulting in water velocities greater than 8 FPS. Limit the water velocity to less than 8 FPS for the copper piping. Reference: Sections 610.1, 610.12 and A 6.1, UPC 2006 and IS 3-2003, Section 2.6.
4. Verify the fixtures connected to the grease waste system, the fixture units used for calculating the size of the gravity grease interceptor, and compliance with the sizing of the gravity grease interceptor per Section 1014.3.6, UPC 2006.
