02/11/2010 ROBERT SHERRY MECHANICAL-COMMERCIAL REVIEW Denied 1. Comment not resolved; fourth request. Provide energy code compliance calculations. Provide sufficient detail on the drawings to evaluate the energy compliance of the building envelope. The information shall, as a minimum, include U-factors of the envelope systems and fenestration components, along with the R-values of the insulation. Reference: Sections 101.4 and 104.2, International Energy Conservation Code 2006.
2. Comment not resolved. Detail 7/M6.0 now shows the fan coil units supported by the building structure but the structure shown on the detail does not reflect the framing shown on the structural drawings (e.g. no steel beams in the area to which to weld the Unistrut). Reference: Sections 106.3.1 and 302.1, IMC 2006.
02/11/2010 ROBERT SHERRY PLUMBING-COMMERCIAL REVIEW Denied 1. Comment not addressed. A fixture trap located within the trap arm distance to an adjacent partition, shall be vented conventionally. Horizontal venting below the flood rim is limited to structural conditions. Reference: 905.3 2006 UPC.
2. Clarify the submitted water pressure and pipe sizing calculations; revise the pipe sizes as needed. The fixture units for the water closets and the urinals appear to have been taken from Table 6-7, UPC 2006 (which is to be used only with Table 6-5, UPC 2006) but the pipe sizing seems to be from Appendix A, UPC 2006. In addition, the maximum allowable velocity for copper tubing is 8 FPS (CW) and 5 FPS (HW), not 10 FPS. Reference: Sections 610.1, 610.4, 610.5, and A6.1, UPC 2006, and Section 2.6, Installation Standard IAPMO IS 3-2003.
3. Comment not addressed. Provide a design for the mounting shelf for the water heater along with structural calculations to show that the water heater is safely supported. Note that the brackets themselves are not being questioned; how are the brackets being attached to the wall, to which wall are the brackets being attached (2"x4" Type 3 or 2"x6" exterior wall), and will blocking will be provided? Reference: Sections 310.0 and 314.5, UPC 2006.
