| 12/08/2009 | RONALD BROWN | BUILDING-COMMERCIAL | REVIEW | Denied | Comments below are to the resubmittal response to comments of 11 August 2009. COMMENT 1: Ok COMMENT 2: Ok COMMENT 3: Ok COMMENT 4: You must send a letter listing the deferred submittals to Mr. LeeRay Hanly. COMMENT 5: No response, Room 112 is still labeled "Office". COMMENT 6: Ok COMMENT 7: Ok, request has been received. COMMENT 8: Not resposive, sheets have not been corrected. COMMENT 9: Ok COMMENT 10: The dimensions are now shown on the floor plan but the numbers font is noncompliant because they are smaller than 3/32" in height. Please rework dimensions. COMMENT 11: Not responsive, the dimensions are still incorrect. COMMENT 12: Toilet is not abulatory until the proper grab bars are show as per ANSI 604.5.3. a. Please provide interior elevations showing accessible compliance. b. The letter of appeal for an approved ambulatory toilet can not be approved until you show that the toilet room is in fact in complance as an ambulatory toilet room. NEW COMMENTS 13. At sheet 15, the toilet doors and window floor plan, the toilet room has not been revised. 14. How can you reference a detail to another detail as on sheet A1, reference to a large scale toilet detail "14/A15" when the referenced plans on sheet A-15 and A-20 have no detail numbers? Also, reference comment 8 above. 15. The hand wash sink at the toilet is shown at different locations on sheet nos. A-2 and A-20. END OF REVIEW |

| 12/17/2009 | ROBERT SHERRY | ELECTRICAL-COMMERCIAL | REVIEW | Denied | Comment not resolved. The interlock control diagram shown on sheet M5 is insufficient to allow an electrician to properly interlock the exhaust fans with the air conditioner without additional design effort by an Arizona Registrant. |
| 12/17/2009 | ROBERT SHERRY | PLUMBING-COMMERCIAL | REVIEW | Denied | 1. With regard to the architectural drawings in this submittal, most of them are not sealed. Provide plans sealed by an Arizona Registrant. Reference: Arizona Revised Statutes 32-125, Board of Technical Registration Rules R4-30-304. 2. Comment not resolved. Clarify the design for the roof drainage for the new kitchen roof. Sheet A-4 is not a roof drawing (sheet A-10 has a roof plan but no roof drains are shown), sheet A-8 doesn't appear to have been changed since 6/23/09, and the rainwater calculations shown on sheet A-10 are incorrect. Table 11-2 has no bearing on scupper sizing; it applies only to horizontal piping of which you have none. A scupper acts as a weir; see Section 1101.11.2.1, UPC 2006 for sizing the scuppers. A roof drain detail is shown on sheet A-11 but no roof drains are shown on the other drawings. Reference: Sections 103.2.3 and 1101.11, UPC 2006. 3. Comment not addressed. The minimum opening width for a scupper is 6.25", based on a 2" roof drain requirement. Reference: Section 1101.11.2.1, UPC 2006. 4. Comment not addressed. Detail 1/A-8 indicates a "metl (sic) bug screen" enclosing the entry to the scupper. Show that the open area of the screen is at least 1.5 times greater than the minimum area of each scupper (4" x 6.25"). Reference: Sections 1101.11.2.1 and 1105.2, UPC 2006. 5. Comment not addressed. Show how the termination of the secondary (overflow) rainwater leader is clearly observable by the building occupants or maintenance personnel. Reference: Section 1101.11.2.2.1, UPC 2006. 6. Comment not resolved; no changes made to the plumbing drawing P1.1 since 7/9/09. Determine the need for a backwater valve per Section 710.1, UPC 2006, as amended by the City of Tucson. 7. Comment not resolved. With a total input of 274,100 BTUH for water heaters WH-1 and WH-3, each of the two louvers used for the combustion air requires a net free area of 137 square inches. A 12" x 24" louver with 30% open area has only 86 square inches of net open area. Revise the louver sizes accordingly. Reference: Sections 507.4 and 507.8, UPC 2006. 8. Comment not resolved. Nothing in the plan set shows how the flues terminate with regard to height, offset from the draft hood of each water heater, or relationship to parts of the building within ten feet of each flue. Provide a complete design for the flues for WH-1 and WH-3 and show that the termination of the flues (or flue if they are to be combined) complies with the requirements of Section 510.6.2, UPC 2006. Reference: Sections 103.2.3, 301.2, and 511.0, UPC 2006. |
| 12/17/2009 | ROBERT SHERRY | MECHANICAL-COMMERCIAL | REVIEW | Denied | 1. Comment not resolved; detail 105/M-3 references the "structural drawings" for information on how to connect the hoods to the building structure but no structural drawings cover the issue and the drawings have been unchanged since 3/27/09. Show how the hoods are being connected to the building structure. Reference: Section 302.1, IMC 2006. 2. TUSD is required to comply with the Arizona State Fire Code which also requires a Type I hood. The installation of a Type I hood shall be per the current mechanical code. The kitchen equipment list (A-4) shows a 2-burner range, a convection oven, and a combi-oven under hood H-1. Hood H-1 must be a Type I hood. Reference: Section 507.2, IMC 2006. 3. TUSD is required to comply with the Arizona State Fire Code which also requires a Type I hood. The installation of a Type I hood shall be per the current mechanical code. Verify that the walls adjacent to hood H-1 comply with the requirements of Section 507.9, IMC 2006. 4. Comment not resolved. Revise the energy code calculations to correspond to the proposed building additions. The plans are ambiguous and the insulation is variously shown as batt insulation in the roof cavities (A-7), built-up roofing over a metal deck, (A-7), and as continuous insulation above a plywood roof deck (2/A-12). Reference: Section 104.2, International Energy Conservation Code 2006. 5. Comment not resolved. Provide documentation for the exterior wall construction noted as "other" in the energy code calculations. Reference: Section 104.2, International Energy Conservation Code 2006. |
