05/20/2009 | ROBERT SHERRY | MECHANICAL-COMMERCIAL | REVIEW | Denied | 1. The 2006 International Mechanical Code with Local Amendments, not the 2000 International Mechanical Code (Note D, sheet M1.1), is the relevant code for this project. 2. Provide energy code compliance calculations using the correct climate zone (Pima County < 4,000 feet). Reference: Sections 101.4 and 104.2, International Energy Conservation Code 2006. 3. Specify the minimum resistance (R-value) of the duct insulation to be used on this project. Reference: Section 503.2.7, IECC 2006, as amended by the City of Tucson. 4. Revise the size of the condensate drains (HP-1 plus AC-2) in accordance with Section 307.2.1, IMC 2006, as amended by the City of Tucson. |
05/21/2009 | ROBERT SHERRY | PLUMBING-COMMERCIAL | REVIEW | Denied | 1. The presence of manholes in the private sewer collection system for this project mandates a review by the Pima County Department of Environmental Quality. The design for the system must be submitted to the Pima County Department of Environmental Quality for their approval prior to obtaining a permit for constructing the private sewer collection system from the City of Tucson (this permit is separate from the building permit). Reference: A.R.S. 49-104 (B) (13). 2. Coordinate the type of cleanout to be installed at the connection of the building sewer and the building drain with the civil drawings; detail H, sheet 9 of 23. Reference: Section 103.2.3, UPC 2006. 3. Clarify the type of urinals being proposed for this building. The plumbing fixture schedule specifies water-free urinals but calls out 1-1/4" water supplies for the urinals and the water schematic also shows branch piping to the urinals. Water-free urinals are not Code-compliant fixtures per the 2006 UPC. If water-free urinals are desired, submit an appeal to the Building Official requesting approval to utilize water-free urinals based on the 2006 International Plumbing Code. Reference: Sections 103.2.3, 211.0 (insanitary), 301.2, 405.2, 409.0, 601.1, and 1005.0, UPC 2006. 4. Show that the backflow preventer located in room 109 conforms to the access and clearance requirements of Section 603.3.4, UPC 2006. 5. One of the specified fixtures (Zurn water closet) requires a minimum pressure greater than the 15-PSI used in the water pipe sizing calculations. Revise calculations as necessary. Reference: Section 608.1, UPC 2006. 6. Provide upper terminal cleanouts on horizontal drainage pipes exceeding 5 feet in length (horizontal drain lines serving sinks and urinals require cleanouts regardless of length). Reference: Section 707.4, UPC 2006. 7. Provide cleanouts sized per Section 707.11, UPC 2006 (see rooms 105 and 106 and the floor cleanout in corridor 203). 8. The rim elevation of the next upstream sanitary manhole (2580.1') is less than 12" below the first floor elevation (2581'). Provide a backwater valve per Sections 710.1, UPC 2006, as amended by the City of Tucson. 9. Provide vent piping of sufficient size to comply with Section 904.1, UPC 2006. Vents located upstream from pumps, ejectors, backwater valves, or other devices that obstruct the free flow of gases between the building sewer and the outside atmosphere shall not be used for meeting the required cross-sectional vent area. 10. Provide the roof drainage design noted on sheets A5.0 (keynote 08) and A5.1 (detail 2). Reference: Sections 103.2.3, 1101.11, 1102.0, 1105.0, and 1106.0, UPC 2006. 11. Show the slope of the horizontal rainwater pipes on the plans. Reference: Section 1106.2, UPC 2006. 12. Clarify the terminations of the roof drains and the overflow drains. Reference: Sections 103.2.3 and 1101.11.2.2.1, UPC 2006. |
