08/26/2009 ROBERT SHERRY WATER REVIEW Denied Comment not addressed. Tucson Water limits a 2" meter to a maximum demand of 80 GPM. Provide a letter from Tucson Water confirming that the use of a 2" water meter will be allowed for this project with a demand of 85 GPM. (Note that the submitted fixture unit calculations did not use the fixture units for assembly occupancy per Table A-2, UPC 2006, Appendix A; the actual demand should be 93 GPM.) Reference: Sections 610.2 and 610.12, UPC 2006.
08/27/2009 ROBERT SHERRY MECHANICAL-COMMERCIAL REVIEW Denied Comment not addressed. Revise the submitted ventilation calculations to comply with the space occupancy requirements of Section 403.3, IMC 2006.
08/27/2009 ROBERT SHERRY PLUMBING-COMMERCIAL REVIEW Denied 1. Revise the design for the natural gas piping by including all of the gas loads that are served by the same meter. It appears that only part of the largest loads (HWB1, HWB2, SWB1, and SWB2) are included in the design, the loads for HWB1 and HWB2 do not match the inputs shown on the mechanical schedule and the sum of the AC loads is incorrect. In addition, the detail on sheet P-801 does not show the delivery pressure for the gas meter.
2. Comment not resolved. Complete the waste and vent isometrics on sheet P-502 (i.e. show the pipe sizes). Reference: Section 103.2.3, UPC 2006.
3. The design of the roof drainage shall be done using the 2006 UPC, not the 2006 IPC, unless an appeal to the building official is submitted.
4. The gutter design for the gym roof is beyond the range of Table 11-3, UPC 2006 for gutters with a slope of 1/8" per foot. Provide calculations per Section 301.2, UPC 2006 to justify your design or increase the slope of the gutter to at least ΒΌ" per foot to operate within the range of Table 11-3, UPC 2006.
5. The provided gutter and leader sizes shown for the Cardio roof comply with the requirements of Tables 11-1 and 11-3, UPC 2006 but the "required" leader size shown for that roof on sheet A-109 is incorrect.
6. Section 1101.11.2.1, UPC 2006 requires the minimum scupper width to be equal to the circumference of the roof drain required by Table 11-1, UPC 2006. The dimensions shown for the racquet ball roof are ambiguous; the minimum width shall be 9.42".
7. Based on the roof plan sown on sheet A-109, the only section of the "re-sloped" roof that has a scupper is the portion of the roof over the gym storage area. Based on Table 11-1, the minimum scupper width is approximately 6.28".
8. The area of the existing aerobics roof is 2563 square feet but it appears to accept the runoff from the re-sloped roof (1202 square feet) and from one half of the existing racquet ball roof (2108 square feet). The total area thus served by the two scuppers is 5873 square feet with 2484 square feet feeding the west scupper and 3389 square feet feeding the east scupper. For both cases, a minimum scupper width of 12.57" will be required.
9. Clarify where the two scupper details (A4/A-504 and C3, C4/A-504) are used. Reference: Section 103.2.3, UPC 2006.
