PREVIOUS COMMENT 1: IN REFERENCE TO THE STRUCTURAL SHEETS, 3/32" LETTERING IS REQUIRED UNLESS A WRITTEN APPEAL IS APPROVED BY THE BUILDING OFFICIAL, JESSIE SANDERS. THERE ARE MANY LOCATIONS ON THE STRUCTURAL SHEETS THAT THE LETTERING DOES NOT MEET THE CITY OF TUCSON STANDARDS.
2. PREVIOUS COMMENT 2: J4 AND J5 NEVER APPEAR IN THE CALCULATIONS. THEY SHOULD EITHER BE INCLUDED AS SEPARATE JOIST DESIGNS, OR COMBINED WITH OTHER JOISTS IN THE CALCULATIONS.

03/19/2009 ROBERT SHERRY PLUMBING-COMMERCIAL REVIEW Denied 1. Clarify the water piping for the appliances and booster pump located in the Water room. Reference: Section 103.2.3, UPC 2006.
2. Clarify the water piping for the water heater WH-2 and it's recirculation pump. Reference: Section 103.2.3, UPC 2006.
3. Provide information on the proposed booster pump system. Reference: Section 103.2.3, UPC 2006.
4. Clarify the note on sheet P1, "Hose bibb with integral vacuum breaker & tee for irrigation line." Provide backflow protection for the house water distribution system per Table 6-2, UPC 2006 (e.g. a pressure vacuum breaker if valves are to be located downstream of the vacuum beaker.) Hose bibbs with integral vacuum breakers shall not be connected to irrigation systems that have any valves located downstream of the hose bibb. Reference: Section 603.4.6, UPC 2006.
5. Comment not resolved; address the two sections of water piping separately. Use the correct pressure drop for a reduced pressure principle backflow prevention assembly. Provide the pressure drop associated with the water softener. The basis for calculating the pipe sizes for the water service to the residence shall be the lowest pressure available to the meter and the minimum pressure at the booster pump shall be not less than 10 PSIG; the equivalent pipe length may be based on the distance from the meter to the booster pump. The water pressure calculations for the residence may be based on the minimum discharge pressure from the booster pump and the equivalent pipe length may be based on the furthest fixture from the booster pump. Reference Sections 608.1, 609.8, and 610.1, UPC 2006.
6. The calculated water demand for this building is greater than 25 GPM. Tucson water will require a 1-1/2" meter to supply your demand.
7. Substitution of alternate piping materials (e.g. PEX instead of copper piping) will require a revision of the water pipe sizing calculations to match the revised piping materials. Any revision will have to be submitted by the architect of record. Reference: Sections 103.2.3 and 610.0, UPC 2006.
8. Revise the waste and vent riser diagram to coordinate with the plumbing design shown on the plumbing floor plan. Show all of the required cleanouts and vents. Reference: Sections 103.2.3, 707.4, 707.11, and 901.0, UPC 2006.
9. Provide upper terminal cleanouts on horizontal drainage pipe over 5 feet in length, e.g. P4 in the laundry and P2 in the master bath. Reference: Section 707.4, UPC 2006.
10. Provide cleanouts sized per Section 707.11, UPC 2006, e.g. the 3" drains in the guest, nanny, and pool baths, as well as the powder room. The 4" building drain will also require a properly sized cleanout.
11. Revise the gas isometric to correspond to the plumbing plan (P1) in the area of the A/V Rack. Reference: Section 103.2.3, UPC 2006.
