| 01/26/2009 | ROBERT SHERRY | PLUMBING-COMMERCIAL | REVIEW | Denied | The submitted calculations are based on a water demand that assumes an average flow with no variation during the day. Using a water demand based on Appendix E of the 2006 UPC, a minimum of 12 fixture units is required for each mobile home lot. For 92 lots, this results in 1104 fixture units, which equals a demand of 220 GPM. Assuming that each meter handles a maximum of half the demand, a 3" water line is required to keep the water velocity below 8 feet per second. The head loss for a 3" water line, however, combined with the pressure drop associated with the water meter, a reduced pressure principle backflow preventer assembly, and the static lift at the mobile home park (16'), will result in a water distribution system that cannot provide a minimum of 20 PSI to each mobile home service connection. Reference: Sections E16 and E17, Appendix E, UPC 2006. |
