8. Sheet 1, Plan symbols and abbreviations will be accepted only as per the PC/COT Standard Details for Public Improvement 2003 Edition. Use all that apply to this project. Both for existing and proposed.

10. Indicate the following Paving Notes in place of the GENERAL NOTES, Sheet 1:
q All construction activity and test methods shall be in conformance with Pima County/City of Tucson Standard Specifications for Public Improvements (PC/COT SSPI) 2003 Edition or current edition.

q Aggregate Base Course shall conform to PC/COT SSPI Section 303

q Asphaltic Concrete shall conform to PC/COT SSPI Section 406. (Indicate Mix Type)

q All concrete shall conform to PC/COT SSPI Section 1006, Class S, 3,000 PSI compressive strength at 28 days, unless otherwise specified.

q Pavement Section Design documentation, are in accordance to the approved Geotechnical Report, Report Name and Firm Name, Project Number.

q All changes to these plans must be cleared by the City of Tucson City Engineer's Permits and Codes Section, prior to construction.

q The City shall not be held liable for any errors and/or omissions on these plans. Items not meeting City Standards shall be repaired/replaced at no cost to the City.

q The Engineer of Record shall submit to the City for review any changes to the approved plans prior to construction. Additionally, the Engineer of Record shall certify all changes meeting all applicable standards, codes, and ordinances.

q An excavation permit shall be obtained from the City of Tucson Transportation Department prior to any work within the Public right-of-way.

q A pre-construction field meeting shall be conducted with the City of Tucson Transportation inspector prior to any work within the public right-of-way.

q The extent and type of surface treatments/repairs indicated on the plans may not be all inclusive of the work that is needed. Additional repairs, paving, or replacement may be needed depending on field conditions.

q The contractor shall contact and/or coordinate any work with COT Streets & Traffic Maintenance Division, Median Island Maintenance Section (791-5279, ext. 234) prior to disturbing any COT/DOT landscaping or irrigation systems. Additionally, the contractor shall repair or replace any disturbed COT/DOT landscaping or irrigation systems, including replacement of any damaged plants. Contact Gary Wittwer @ 400-2645 for inspection and permits for landscaping. For irrigation removal/replacement contact Paul Rosenboom @ 237-7386.

q The PIA Inspector shall verify that the "Saw-cut" line is located within competent pavement. Adjustments to the plan shall be documented and As-built; a one foot minimum shall be provided."

q Contractor shall obtain all other permits as required by Local, State and Federal requirements.

q A copy of the approved plan shall be kept in an easily accessible location on the site at all times during construction.

q The contractor shall comply with all applicable Occupational Safety and Health Administration regulations.
q Signage and striping should be coordinated with Traffic Engineering and installed at no expense to the public. Call Traffic Engineering at 791-4259 prior to the installation or removal of striping and signage.

q Upon commencement of work, traffic control devices shall be posted and maintained by the contractor until such time as the work is completed. All warning signs barricades etc. shall be in accordance with the manual on uniform traffic control devices adopted by the State of Arizona pursuant to A.R.S. 28-650. Contact Traffic Engineering, 791-4259, 48-hours prior to placing or removing any said traffic control devices.

q Contractor shall call Blue Stake as mandated by the Arizona Revised Statutes at 1-800-782-5348 before any construction begins to verify location of existing utilities shown or not shown. Existing utility locations shown hereon are only approximate. It is the contractor's responsibility to confirm horizontal and vertical location of all utilities without damaging same. Damaged utilities shall be repaired at no expense to the City.

q The contractor shall contact and/or coordinate any work with COT Streets & Traffic Maintenance Division, Electric Shop 791-3154 prior to relocation or placement of any street lighting or traffic facilities. Contact Ernie Encinas at 791-3154 for street lighting/traffic signal plan review.

11. Sheet 2, All existing structures are to be shown in a dashed line and gray in color.

12. Sheet 2, Call out 1-foot Saw-cut Beginning and Ending: Stationing, Offsets & Elevations. Indicate grades every 50-feet from beginning to ending. See redlines.

13. Sheet 2, Relocate text for BCR, Sta.12+87.41. See redlines.

14. Sheet 2, Detail A; Existing pavement thickness and surface treatment shall be matched. Show and label the existing and proposed structures. See redlines.

15. Sheet 2, Profile; Indicate the elevations along the right border. Grid lines: use a dark continuous line for the 100' mark, and use a light pen weight for the 10' mark.

16. Curve data must be provided in table format.

17. A dimensioned detail of the curb access ramp to be built as part of the project must be shown. Truncated Domes required.

Please identify tree, shrub and irrigation locations. Determine what will need to be removed and how it will be mitigated. Resubmittal Required: Traffic Engineering does not recommend approval of the PIA Plan; therefore a revised PIA Plan is required for re-submittal. The following items must be revised or added to the plan.

1. Include a response letter with the next submittal that states how all comments have been addressed.

2. See redlines on the submitted drawings and address the additional redline comments. During the next submittal please re-submit the roll of redlines for back checking purposes.

3. Along Speedway Blvd ensure that all existing signs that are effected by the off-site improvements and are applicable to the roadway remain in place or relocated to an appropriate location.

4. Provide a 'RIGHT LANE' (R3-5F) supplemental plaque under the new (R3-5R) along Speedway Blvd.
